I remember when Keith Richards was asked in a radio interview if he considered the Rolling Stones music to be art, he replied, "The only thing I know about art is its short for Arthur."
That's was last year. Since then I've met a few people who have stayed at the same centre, Osho Leela. As soon as you find out they've been to Leela, a big loving hug always follows....
I stayed at an Osho centre for few weeks. Hugging is a big part of the daily routine, in fact on arrival they teach you how to hug in a loving way. Being close, feeling and appreciating that closeness, especially for a few minutes is a wonderful experience, regardless of whether the other person is male or female. But, patting on the back is a big no no.
This site has thousands of members. About 50 of them, if that, use the forums on a regular basis. I'm sure admin could do without babysitting us, or even do without us altogether.
Not that difficult at the time, and most of those trolling back then we're not stupid, they were very clever and extremely manipulative. There was a few who used multiple profiles to cause as much disruption as possible, some openly boasted they would get the forums closed down. I think admin has since taken steps to ensure profile hijacking is not quite so simple these days.
Remeberror the period when someone was hijacking profiles and posting under their name? Even with their profile pic. That caused a lot of trouble. I had my profile hacked, it caused a great deal of upset. They posted, with my profile, derogatory remarks about my good friend Trish, (I'm sure you remember her) and it looked like it was a genuine post. She rang me shortly afterwards in tears asking how, after 30 years of close friendship, could I say things like that about her. I hadn't seen the post and was totally confused. After that it happened many times to other members. That was serious trolling?
Something changed, that's for sure. There were a few who were hell bent on getting the forums closed down, mainly those who had been booted and kept coming back with a different, or multiple profiles. Remember 7 eyes (probably cali) and his fake sidekick, she was supposedly from Ireland?
That's what I was thinking Conrad, the days of absolute mayhem on the forums which almost brought them to an end. I do believe the police had to get involved at one stage. I don't think there are any trolls, in the true sense of the word, these days on the forums, just a few argumentative individuals who are quite harmless really.
It's not abouti finding a destination or even aspiring to anything. It's about self improvement for the benefit of yourself and others around you. Self improvement or self awareness can come in small steps, no-one is that grounded to believe there's no room for improvement, although some are that conceited.
You will get them, it's how you respond to them that matters.
I'm not suggesting we can go through life without having to face many testing times, samsara, (the wheel of life, birth, life and death) guarantees that. But, with the realisation, the awareness that, ultimately, all we want is a peaceful mind, it's then possible to look within and examine . We can then work on the negative states we so often find ourselves in and by close examination , at least try to understand why we feel this way. Just to give a simple example... Someone cuts you up whilst driving. Do you get angry, annoyed, blast the horn at them? With awareness you can see and realise this reaction does not help the situation and certainly could worsen it. Next time someone does that, realise there are many bad and inconsiderate drivers on the road and quite often you will unfortunately come across them. So, just try, with this awariness to accept their erratic driving, take what evasive action is necessary and carry on with your journey WITHOUT GIVING IT ANOTHER THOUGHT. This is how you cultivate a peaceful mind, start with the little things.
"Everything that irritates us about others can lead to a better understanding of ourselves."
Well of course, that goes without saying, nobody welcomes a disturbed state of mind. See, I said it anyway...
I'm not sure what you mean by "put to sleep your nature," or "suffocate your senses." With a peaceful mind, your stare of being would be quite the opposite.
Me too, in fact I've had many adventures in what are considered danger areas,. Spent many times at the sharp end of the rope whilst rock climbing, skied and mountain biked on the edge with fervour. A peaceful mind doesn't mean lethargy and navel gazing, it isn't about what's out there, it's about a state of being. Everyone wants a peaceful state of being, regardless of outer circumstances.
