Mesange1: It certainly is not the best movie of all, but is actually my favorite, for it tells a lot to me - Forces Spéciales ( true story of Bérets Verts).
But why? Did you want to go into the military? Did you have your heart broken by a soldier? Was your dad an army guy?
Written and directed by Bruce Beresford, never intended as a comedy but as an autobiographical account of his early years in theater school during the tail end of the 60s... I could write pages on this film, I've seen it over 20 times and laugh and cry every time...it is the yardstick with which I measure all films that I might want to see... It's gone into history as one of the most quotable films made in the last 50 years, and has spawned the withnail and I drinking game.... I've long said, any woman who gets this film, gets me and my sense of humor... For my money, the best film I have seen in all my years of movie watching....

Yeah. Allthough I think For a fist full of dollars and The Good the bad and the ugly were less great. The good the bad and the ugly just have to have it from the jokes during the movie, and of course the perfect music. Once upon a time in the west has all a good movie needs. Somehow the Westerns where Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef play together are better than the movies where Lee Van Cleef didn't show up. Ever seen Dead Rides a horse?
There are a lot more western movies I'd like to see. Like the books of Louis L'Amour. I've seen several about the Sackets, or the quick and the dead, but there are more of his books on film, like Kid Rodelo.

Wish it was on Youtube.
PetK, my teenage years were spent reading Louis L'amour books...unforgettable. They were just so good, I wanted to become a writer too.
for many reasons. as well, no matter how many times i see it, i tear up when Roy (Rutger Hauer) lets the dove go. that whole scene is so powerful to me.
more recently, and on a lighter note, i liked Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). i love the intro when Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) puts on his headphones and is dancing. It's that unguarded moment of him dancing when no one is watching.
