You're right, conditionality is the governing law of nature and our existence. Even unconditional love, sometimes referred to as disinterested love is subject to conditionality. The only attached condition for unconditional love to exist is human existence.
I disagree. True love, that is unconditional love, or agape is certainly not reciprocal. Unconditional love needs nothing and expects nothing in return.
I don't think there is any one definition that really explains spirituality, adequately, in fact I dislike the word spirituality. The best definition I've heard was just two words....
As far as the psychological law of karma goes, it doesn't 'do' anything, it's not a mechanism. As I mentioned earlier, whatever we do or think is stored, it's kind of logged, this is a fact. If we learn from these imprints we will see that as an individual, as a group or even as a nation, good actions produce good results, bad actions produce bad results. This might not seem so obvious on the face of it, but with closer observation you will see, the kindest people are always the happiest, or perhaps I should say, have the greatest peace of mind.
Of course the universal law of karma takes a certain kind of mind to believe in, but the psychological law of karma is a fact. However it takes a wise person to realise that.
Just a short extract, can't post the link on my phone.
So although the psychological sense of karma has always been part of the Buddhist teaching, it has not usually been distinguished from the universal sense of karma. But actually, the two meanings of karma have very different implications. The universal law of karma is a matter of religious belief.
It is not possible for ordinary people to understand the workings of universal karma; as the Buddha said, the workings of karma are unthinkable.
It is simply a matter of trusting that this is the way that the universe works. Moreover, a belief in the universal law of the karma is tied up with a belief not only in rebirth but also in the various realms of existence posited by Buddhist cosmology. All in all, the universal law of karma is a matter of religious belief.
By contrast, the psychological law of karma is not a matter of belief, but is something that we can observe and test for ourselves. Indeed, most of us have to some extent learned to do good and avoid evil just because of our past mistakes. But mostly this psychological law of karma appeals to our intuitive sense of morality as well as being easily testable through actual experience. The truth that good actions have good consequences which are experienced in the here and now seems to be part and parcel of the Dharma, which is said to be evident, timeless, inviting, guiding, to be experienced individually by the wise.
My reply to you will effect me in one way or another, if only subconsciously. Everything I do is stored in my subconscious mind. This is the fundamental basis for karma. But it goes way further than that. Better to stick to, what goes round comes round....forget about karma, that's to big a subject to understand unless you're prepared for some serious studying.
The common Weatern perception of karma is way off the mark. Karma doesn't happen 'out there,' it's totally within the mind. The subject is way beyond discussion on a forum, take a few months, or maybe years, study karma, you then may get an insight into what karma really means.
No but it did have the line " kill the beast" and many claim Anton LaVay, leader of the Satanic Church is on the inside cover, but in fact is was just some woman hired for the photo shoot...
The song is a metaphor for the West Coast music industry and its damaging effects on the many talented musicians who eventually succumbed to the pressures of fame and riches.
Its a lovely hotel in Todos Santos on the west coast of the Baja Peninsula. They had the album covers and pictures of the band on the walls, but the owner now goes to great lengths to dismiss any connection to the hotel and the song.
