RE: The evolution of CS...

He's hanging on in there but I suspect I have an agonizing decision to make soon. He's almost 16 now and that's unusual for his breed but over the last few months he really has gone downhill.

He's had a great life though and brought a smile to many peoples faces along the way....dancing dog

Yes, joined around April 2007, we've seen lots of comings and goings over those years eh Conrad.

RE: Do you believe in Jesus Christ!

He may have been a Buddhist monk according to this BBC documentary...

RE: to kill is against human law is it not?

It would seem that Islam is not the only religion that wants to incite murder...sigh

RE: To believe or not believe and why?

Sadly, for many, the word 'God' is a barrier to the very thing it's supposed to be pointing us towards.

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

I suppose it could be said, his words were those of an enlightened being.

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

It's Pedro...he inspires me...laugh

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

Fear is defeated by the truth, faith most often ignores the truth.

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

There are some clinical scientists who believe that many illnesses are in fact a product of the mind, the body's reaction to the mind could be far greater than we ever imagined.

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

Descartes believed that statement referred to a fundamental truth, in fact it contains a most basic error. He was equating thinking with being and identity with thinking.

Thought needs consciousness, but consciousness doesn't need thought.

RE: can you train your mind to be healthy ?

You can train your mind to be virtuous, and a virtuous mind is a healthy mind.

RE: say anything thread continued

And you can lead a man to slaughter, but you're never going to make him think.

RE: Do you ever allowed risk loosing some beliefs?

Believe nothing but examine everything.

Belief is not the truth.

RE: Please specify your "god"

Buddha never claimed to be and is never looked upon as being a God. In fact he said, don't take my word on these teachings, try them, question them, see for yourself.

RE: Keith Emerson of Emerson Lake and Palmer dies at 71

Posted this in the say anything thread yesterday, maybe more fitting to post it here.

I've seen Keith Emerson many times in the days of The Nice, quite an amazing electric keyboard player...pretty accomplished pianist also, as is displayed in their cover of Tim Hardin's, Hang on to a Dream.

Sad loss...sad flower

RE: im proud of the human race..!

Of course they sound the same, the truth or the true nature of things is always the truth, always the same.

RE: im proud of the human race..!

Love is a name for the pure awareness of consciousness when it is free of all desirous attachment, free of all desire to posses, hold on, own or acquire. (free from delusions.)

"Delusion: A mental factor that arises from inappropriate attention and functions to make the mind unpeaceful and uncontrolled. There are three main delusions: ignorance, desirous attachment, and anger. From these arise all the other delusions, such as jealousy, pride, and deluded doubt."

This is not the same thing as being delusional, it has a completely different meaning.

RE: im proud of the human race..!

They are part of human nature, we all suffer from delusions, ignorance being one of the worst delusions, it doesn't follow that we have to accept them....our true nature is that of love.

RE: im proud of the human race..!

The human race in the main, is suffering from inherent insanity, fueled by greed, ignorance, self cherishing and many similar delusions.
Personal growth is seen as achieving wealth, possessions and power when in fact, no real growth is achieved.
Love is seen as something to be found and bestowed upon those who will reciprocate, when in fact it should be given freely to all.

Apart from all that, pride is a delusion in itself.

RE: Word to Live By - Part 3

Try to make your mind your best friend.

It can be a terrible master, or a wonderful servent.

RE: love

Real love is unconditional. Sometimes referred to as disinterested love or agape, it's when love is given to others, without the shadow of self interest lurking beneath the surface, when nothing is expected in return.

It's rarely displayed, but ironically it's our true nature, we all possess it, it's our true state of being.
