which way are you Robo . not sure about Ensay but the pics of the house area of my place must be December last as it shows the fire I had in the pines and the gorse I sprayed by hand that is showing brown but not the new cattle yards as the timber is still stacked .

RE: pictures includes new sighting: Leaden flycatcher

hey you guys I stumbled over this area measuring tool for bing maps .Better than google programs sold here that do the same thing which cost 400 dollars . It is accurate as I measured a forty meter fence and it came out at 41 yards which is close .This program is not down loaded just used and forgot and its FREE

Seven minute tutorial U-tube clip which I needed to refer back to .

map link can be set to search anywhere . Birds eye view has the best look . This mapping program is better than the one the council uses here as detail can be seen clearly . Can't measure on birds eye but the aerial. Point to point measurement can be done as well .

RE: Which is the most cost efficient source of energy? ...

water from the volcanic plateau cant be that toxic as people have come from Europe since the 1800's to soak in it . Big tourism industry has been built around it .
First time I saw the area it looked like it was on fire with the steam coming from natural vents . Amazing area , dangerous as well with all the hot mud pools . A big spring that's from the field 3 meters across, the water is crystal clear its hard to get depth perception right .Trout sitting on the bottom are easy to see but that's all . Lake that stream fed into is only a few hundred meters away , and was full of town/industry and farm run off and was not a place to swim by the looks . Effort is going into reducing the problems .

RE: What do you look for in a partner.

Oh yes , serious number of mamming pics would not go a miss . (,)(,)

RE: Perving Profiles

Morning Robo , off out the door have a yarn laterwave

RE: Perving Profiles

Must be , hehe I think we are all over the constant scammers , just like weeds if they are left .Pays to do a bit of weeding , hell ask Lookin ,he knows . Well I'm off to do some . With my lighter and camera . wave

RE: Which is the most cost efficient source of energy? ...

confused water , what water . Steam pours out of the ground and is intercepted by a turbine . Water under huge ground pressure is super heated well beyond boiling .

RE: Which is the most cost efficient source of energy? ...

there are two types of panels that I know of , one that performs better in cloudy weather and the other that's better in bright sun . I have noticed that they work better after a frost than a very hot day as the panel performance is heat related . The magic number of a dollar per watt of manufactured price has been reached but in China rather than the US . Where to from here ? miniaturization but at a competitive price . Its not needed for as the roof sizes of most dwellings holds the space to have more panels than the power used underneath .

RE: Which is the most cost efficient source of energy? ...

been used here for decades and one of the cleanest source of power we have . Hydro dams being cleaner but dependant on rain/snow fall

RE: What Do You Think Is Inside?

gezzzzzz thought that was real till the bear started dancing . Seen a clip of this fella lying on a trash heap with a bear feeding not far from him . He did something ,could have grabbed the bear ,anyways bear gives him a belt and bolts .I was not able to find the clip though.Clip following is more like dating than fighting bears.

RE: India's Space Program

the service is not cell signal from towers . Although it says that 44 thousand aussies are on it that does not impress me as its a bloody small number . Rather have a tower signal as the price should be lower AND IT WOULD NOT DRAIN MY BATTRIES USING IT . Ah well I live in hope that the Rural Broadband Initiative might plonk a tower on a high that I can see .

RE: India's Space Program

The satellite they want me on is 45 degrees above horizon rather than the 23 I am now on .Most satellite systems are 18 . I don't like the constant change as this has worked well for a while however took some bedding in . Not keen on going back to keeping an eye on overs . Really cramp my style . Still onwards and upwards .

We are writing with some really great and long awaited news. We now have an agreement with a new satellite provider – and we are beginning the process of upgrading your service to the new and much improved service between now and mid-January.

Why we are changing:

The outgoing service was leading edge a few years ago, but technology has moved on and the way we use the Internet has changed. We now need a service that provides a better user experience, with features like video streaming. We also need a better quality of service, one that is not congested and oversubscribed.

Our new service uses the Optus satellite, we know this system is a massive improvement over the current satellite – 44,000 Australians use this platform successfully all around rural Australia and we’re able to leapfrog with their experience.

What the new service provides:

· Much faster user experience

· Services like VoIP and video (YouTube and eTV for example)

· Less congestion

· Better angle to the satellite as the satellite is closer and more overhead (which means better performance as well)

New “line insurance”:

We are adding a small $10 (including GST) line insurance per month for the new satellite network – our experience is that a good number of customers have needed to get an onsite installer for faults and readjustments after large storms etc. This has lead to bill shock for those customers once the installer’s mileage is taken into account. We are adding the line insurance across all our customers so that there are no longer any costs for an onsite repair.

No costs to migrate:

There is no cost for you to migrate to the new service. We will pay for the new equipment and for the installer to visit.

You will remain on exactly the same plan at the same rate – but your experience will be much better. We know that when the connection speed improves, you may want more Gb’s – we will release top up bundles in December.

The installation plan:

We ask for your patience because we have a significant number of installations to complete.

· The first step is scheduling an appointment, we will provide a date range where the installation may take place

· An installer will call you to arrange a specific time within that range if that works for you

· The installer will change out the electronics on the dish, and the modem – but the dish will remain the same (so no remounting is required)

Some notes about the installation:

· We need reasonably clear days – if it’s raining or heavily overcast the appointment will need to be rescheduled

· Please be flexible about the timings for the installation, we need to get most of our customers migrated before Christmas which is a massive undertaking for us.

What about RBI?:

If you're on this email, we have already checked if you are in coverage for RBI – and you don't appear to be. We are an RBI reseller – which means that if you think you might be in the coverage zone, we can do a formal coverage check, and if you have coverage, we can supply an RBI set up instead. RBI starts at $100 per month.

Any questions?:

You can email us on upgrade@wnation.net.nz or call us on 09 280 4820

Kind regards,

Mike

Oh sh't here it comes , this thread my have kicked this off . There is nothing that this system can do that my current one does not for me but I bet they will be able to log my data usage

RE: news Evacuations as Super Typhoon Haiyan hits Philippines

Morning Robo , so long as they are little it's alright . Time and again over the radio I have heard that Cantabrians are able to guess the size closely .Should be able to close GNS and save a sack of money by asking around . Plenty of Cantabrians spread around NZ so all is good .

RE: news Evacuations as Super Typhoon Haiyan hits Philippines

fitting emote , you guys would feel left out without another quake wouldn't you .

RE: news Evacuations as Super Typhoon Haiyan hits Philippines

they have just had a 4.8 quake ,Fairfax have it here . Stuff their luck , hope ours is better .bowing bowing

RE: Which is the most cost efficient source of energy? ...

Solar takes up more space per kw than wind systems will ever do . There are problems with both . With macro wind systems the % of wind generation needs to be managed as there has to be standby generation instantly on tap ,micro easier as it can be fed to batteries . And as for solar no sun ,limited power . Integrated systems using a bunch of generation types are best weather macro or micro .

RE: I'm confused here. Can someone explain?

if there are seasonal shortages of water a plant like that would be a good idea .If there is plenty of water some one has been bribed big time to hoist the cost onto others .Time will tell .
