I've always loved the change at fall but is a portend of things to come...hopefully we have a nice long fall (say right up to Christmas and then it warms up LOL). As for Thanksgiving being an American thing, I believe that most cultures that have a large harvest at the end of their growing season have some type of festival or feast. Just makes sense, but only in America can you get such great deals at the stores
I couldn't agree more Dave...between your great state (with the Adirondack mountains) and my province of Ontario we have the corner on beautiful fall colours (colors for you LOL). The mix of maples, ash, birch and coniferous trees combine to make it one glorious time of year. I really love the different shades of brown, green and yellow if the fields compared to the vibrant reds, oranges and shads of green of the leaves. I hope to ride the bike down your way to catch the magnificent show. Oh yeah and our thanksgiving is way earlier than yours (October 10th this year) and I'm looking forward to some great family time and pumkin pie
You are what you believe...and in Canada we have a saying...we have all the room in the world for God's creatures like moose and dear and bear...right next to the mashed potatoes...good luck with that
I've been here a couple of years and luckily enough met my lady after a short six months
There are a lot of really great people here and I must admit that there are a few that I miss...I keep thinking that if I wait long enough a few of them might come back and drop in occasionally. There certainly is enough of a variety among the members to be entertaining
My condolences as well Leigh, but having had a similar opportunity for closure and those special moments, I was able to help my father at the end of his time here. A beautiful gift of unconditional love that makes me a better man today...not lost but gone before
If the desire not to smoke is greater than the desire to smoke, you WILL be successful. Persevere and endure the moment, it is so worth your effort. You can do this
I smoked for about 25 years (about a pack and a half a day) but when I was ready to quit I had to realize that I would have to put as much effort into quitting as I did when I started smoking. I can vividly remember those first few inhales (coughing up a lung) but I was determined to be as cool as the other guys. I knew that quitting was going to be uncomfortable (the addiction part) but that I also had to unlearn some of the codependant habits. The hand to mouth habit is a very real one to overcome and I used a surogate cigarette (a golf pencil) to deal with that. Also enduring the recovery from addiction (the little screaming meemee that runs around your system for it seems like forever saying "I want nicotine, I want nicotine) was simply a course in mind over matter. A little distraction at the time of the craving helped. I used a terrible tasting cough candy when the urge presented itself. It is not easy but very rewarding and it is something that you can accomplish. I did it cold turkey and recommend that as well but there is a vast amount of help in that department of you choose it. Everything from medical help to hypnosis. I enjoy life a lot better today (24 years later) and besides not smelling like an ashtray I find that food tastes soooo much better and my immune system is firing on all cylinders. Best of luck to you.
Nigeria...I've heard enough from them already to last a couple of lifetimes. It is too bad that I have to condemn a whole country just for the action of some of it's people but I just don't trust anything once I hear that name.
I'm afraid that would be a hypothetical relationship that you would be running from there Colonel, as I doubt very much that you will have a date any time soon and definitely not from this site... give it a rest...go chew on another bone
RE: Happy Birthday To Conrad
