Their vibration changes and their soul is able to escape the body and adventure to other realms of existence. The type of meditation(chakra) is dictated in such that you can direct your subconscious(soul) and connect it with source so the travel reaches it's destination. Much like when we sleep and dream....but we can't control that in that sense. There is lucid dreaming(controlled dreams when we are aware), but that has it's limits as far as astral traveling.
Our souls are able to leave our bodies and experience other realms. I have done a shamanic drum trip...type of meditation, and what I experienced was real. The drums had a frequency that changed my vibration, even though my body was still here. Hard to explain, but it's like a splinter of your soul leaving your body. And our subconscious is essentially the core of our soul that connects to everything in the universe.

The hallucinogenic drugs alter your state of perception as well as parts of your genes in your body and brain. Thus allowing you to see other vibrations that are not visible when you are sober. Timothy Leary did much research on this and I studied his theories in great detail.

Sorry ging, I left out a key element about our vibration. Depending on our karmic vibration, more negative or positive, then it shall transfer to it's corresponding plane of vibrational frequency in connection with our journey that can shift by the karma we have to work out.

Physically yes, but to reach the other planes, depends on our vibration. We never really die as energy beings, just transfer. Energy as matter, does not die, just transfers it's energy elsewhere. Think of an ice cube. When you take the ice cube out of the freezer, it's energy vibrational level speeds up, melts form it's slow vibrational form as solid and transfers into the air. And air is energy. So it does not die, but transfers. Hope that made sense gingerb.

Nobody is manipulating your energy, you manipulate how you think, so you feel better about yourself in the present. Thus enabling you to create the future you want.

Freud claims that we are all egoists at the core. Wanting the wrong things only fuels that with our selfish desires. Wanting what is real in an unselfish way has nothing to do with our ego. Just our well being. All the religions preach this in their own way.

Yes, wanting the wrong things has created an astral plane of cruel existence in this point in the universe....planet earth as you percieve it. It is a constant, this astral plane, it will always be here. There are other planes of existence that we can go to depending on our karma. It is like a testing ground here on earth.

Nothing. The source wants nothing with our knowledge, but we can only go back to the source with our evolved levels of wisdom and knowledge.

The source is omniscient. It is the sea, and we are waterdrops separated from the sea.

Our understanding is illusory, as well as our thoughts. The only thing that is real is our energy. The visible world arises from an omnipresent and unchangeable divine "source" an immaterial reality. Not solid!
