The young man who played the part of Jamie Vlassiskis was in a mall in the area, on his way to join the Army, when recruited for this movie............ his acting was totally believable and amazing in this movie
you can't close your eyes to what is happening, you may meet these people any day, at any time, even living next door, it also shows the dysfunction whereby the Govt lumps all of these people together, to create hellholes for adults and their children
Snowtown is more psychological, it's really in your face, like you are there with these dysfunctional, sad people in Elizabeth S.A. (who by the way are everywhere in Australia), it shows only one actual murder very graphically, it is not a "horror" movie, it sticks to the true story, many people have walked out because they couldn't handle it. However, in saying that, it is brilliant movie making, only one actor was professional and that was the person who played John Bunting. The rest were all total acting virgins, who actually live in the area. The young man who played Jamie Vlassiskis, was actually on his way to join the Army, when he was "recruited" for this movie, and he is brilliant. Definitely not for the faint hearted, and I work with Child Protection, so see these type of people every day, I am still affected.
I seldom tell people my age, and if I do tell them, they are surprised and tell me I look 20 years younger and say I don't act my age either, BUT once they know, they start to treat me differently, why is that. I am never nosey about people's ages, I just treat them as I find them.
hanging out the back of a Sandman, it was "the" car to be seen in, even if you weren't doing anything in the back. going to heaps of concerts 'cos it was only about $5.00 or less to see a top band, even from overseas, going straight to work (just a shower in between) from raging all night at a nightclub, Christmases where you drove from relatives to friends all day - drinking at each visit and it still being safe on the roads, no accidents. I think drugs play a big part in car accidents these days, people mix alcohol and meth (speed) together, dangerous combination.
