I miss partying in the 70s. The fashion. Platform shoes and bellbottom jeans. Halter neck and handkerchief dresses and the music, disco lights, smoking in clubs. I miss the way I looked back then and the fact that I never truly appreciated my youth.

I dont miss the typewriter, Jeez Whiz but pounding on those old things really hurt the fingertips,

but miss the ashtray that used to sit besides it... sigh

I do miss the "less stress" and more fun that life afforded, everything was taken lightly, hours at work were less, and employment was easy.

I miss Janis Joplin... her raunchy voice..

sigh

I miss John Lennon & George Harrison, among many others.. moping

I miss that life that maybe we could have had, if technology had not moved so quickly...moping

I feel like too much has changed in too short time, and if I compare the way our life has moved, it doesn'tseem to synch with the way nature goes slowly ...

I hope I am making sense... wave

Yay! Yea, My alltime favorite outfits: A leather vest with the fringe. Soooo hot. A red satin bell bottom pant suit. Figure hugging in all the right places. Even hotter! And last but not least, leopard skin thigh high boots worn with black skin tight pants. and a short leopard skin top and big hair and big earrings. Oh, I miss it.

Merriweather: That has made me laugh... I remember driving from about 17 til 22 without one... It really was not that important back then, and the cars were old and slow, and ran on the smell of an oily rag...

Glad I am not the only silly one back then yeah and no one had a care in the world I wanna be young again crying

Yep. I remember the old cars. We spent more time pushing them than driving them. It used to take me 45 minutes to get to work and 6 hours to get home coz I always seemed to break down on the motorway. I drove an old humber 91. Solid as and heavy as. I used to have a fake leg hanging out of the boot. Good for a laugh.laugh

Wow, drinking in Surf City with Billy thorpe and the aztecs, parties in the cross. 18c for a 10 ounce beer in the lounge. $3.07 for a bottle of rum. 10c for a packet of smokes at sea. Lots of girls and good times. waking to see nothing but sea in all directions. Working underwater. Great memories.

The things I really miss though are different. A simpler more innocent world. Kids able to walk to school safely. Being able to go out and leave the door open. Music before it was blowing out eardrums. Being able to sleep in the streets of Kings Cross. Cabbies taking a young sailor back to the ship for what ever change we had. and most of all, HEALTH and FITNESS.

Woo hoo! We sure did Curly. This is a cool thread that has brought back lots of memories. Dancing to the "Bustop" Getting into nightclubs at 16.Didnt need much money coz some bloke would always buy you a drink. Getting booted out by the bouncer. Running for cover when the cops arrived, then going back the next night to do it all over again.sigh

Different times, I recall a mini that I owned and only ever drove a few times sober. That was in 66 and it didnt seem to be a crime then.

well I had a moment today where I told Short ... back in my day we didnt loose our rulers and protractors every 5 minutes.. these things lasted for years giggle

miss being able to sleep in till noon because you'd been out the night before.

I remember I had my older sisters P license and used it as ID when I was 16 going to clubs. Best night was after having been a regular for 2 years at the New York Hotel, they were jaw drop when I celebrated my 18th there.

I remember my girlfriend and I putting all our small change 1c 2c & 5c coins in a moneybox, and going out one night, shaking it all onto the bar and asking for their bottle of cheapest wine grin
