Two elderly ladies had been friends since their 30s. Now in their 80s, they still got together a couple of times a week to play cards. One day they were playing gin rummy and one of them said, "You know, we’ve been friends for many years and, please don't get mad, but for the life of me, I can't remember your name. Please tell me what it is."
Her friend glared at her. She continued to glare and stare at her for at least three minutes. Finally, she said, "How soon do you need to know?"
Thank you!! Something we will never forget those towers falling...wow, my son was fairly new to the military at the time, in Hawaii. I just see that airplane in my mind all the time hitting the second tower.
And the first time picking my son up in San Francisco from the airport 4 months later, with the armed military guards everywhere. I knew life would never be the same. I wish I were picking him up now, wish they were all safely back on American soil.
Thank you Kaybee! It means a lot! I can't wait for my son to be home and back with his family! Only a few more months!
People don't realize how terrifying it is to have a phone conversation with your child and hear a round of gunfire in the background! I have! But nothing compares to being on a battle field be it in a foreign country or back here at home; fighting crime, fires or for someone's life...they do it without complaining.
I have a son and daughter in the military. Until my son is back on US soil, I won't rest properly. When he is deployed I feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest. I can't breathe right...
I don't give a rat's butt who views who as a hero...it's all about opinion. I know my children are my heroes and there is no one who sits behind a computer and disputes heroism that can change my mind.
Regarding how our veterans are treated, I've seen way too many out on the street....very sad.
Oh they think they are clever and will research our part of the state and say things like "I was fishing in (insert local lake here) lake" and "I love going to (insert nearby beach here) beach" and so on and so on...but you pin them down and ask them where they work..."Oh I am an engineer and presently out of the country in Timbucktoo building a bridge"...those would be the ones who DON'T have 'Engineer' on their profile...I get so tired of the scammers, it's getting to the point that when I see I have mail...I cringe knowing it's another scammer wasting my time.
Popeyes Chicken...but last night was KFC... all Victor's fault... my lips were all swollen from too much salt this morning....oh wait that could have been from my date
I like read this too all the way through and am truly sorry for all that you have gone through. Losing the love of your life has to be a very difficult thing.
In my opinion relationships are not about money, prestige or what someone have in their garage, but what is in their heart.
Such is Life....
