No, I was there during December and early January, too early for the whales, spent most of the time camping by the Sea of Cortez, wonderful...even without the whales.
Last time I was at Llandegla there was a fair covering of snow on the ground which added a little 'something extra' to the downhill runs. But yes, the views from the forest are indeed beautiful.
Two biking weekends this year also, both in North Wales. The first one on Anglesey along the coast, and last weekend in Porthmadog which was particularly good. I put my bike on the Ffestiniog mountain railway and took a journey up into the mountains of Snowdonia. The ride back down to Porthmadog on the coast, mainly off road was excellent and of course predominately downhill.
My next outing will probably be in The Peak District which is on my doorstep.
