more government control in our lives!! i could think of other places that 3 billion would be better spent!!! like health care for those that cannot afford it
WASHINGTON - The Senate moved the digital TV transition one step closer to reality on Thursday, setting a firm date for television broadcasters to switch to all-digital transmissions. Lawmakers gave broadcasters until April 7, 2009, to end their traditional analog transmissions. The so-called "hard date" was included in a sweeping budget bill. The bill also would provide $3 billion to help millions of Americans buy digital-to-analog converter boxes for their older television sets — so those consumers will continue to receive a signal once the switch is made permanent. Legislation approved last month by the House Energy and Commerce Committee calls for a Dec. 31, 2008, deadline and provides nearly $1 billion for the converter boxes. Differences between the measures would need to be worked out in a House-Senate conference. In the Senate, an amendment by Republican John Ensign of Nevada that would have reduced the converter box subsidy to $1 billion was withdrawn. Spokesman Jack Finn said Ensign was concerned that the $2 billion in savings would be spent on other projects instead of deficit reduction. Digital television promises sharper pictures and better sound than analog TV. National Association of Broadcasters president Eddie Fritts said the 2009 deadline "represents a victory for millions of Americans who could have been left stranded by a premature end to analog television service." The move to all-digital will free valuable radio spectrum, some of which will be allocated to improve radio communications among fire and police departments and other first responders.
to me true love is unconditional and yes i would make sacrifices, but i would not allow my self to be a doormat either.
to me a true relationship is a 200% thing. both parties each give the other 100% of themselves in order for the relationship to work.
i've heard the "experts" say relationships are a 50/50 thing, but if all you are going to give me is 50% and i put in 100% then i don't think we stand a snowballs chance in hell!!!
absolutly NOT!!!!i like watching the history channel the science channel the discovery channel the learning channel animal planet court tv cnn and many other channels where i learn about the world. i was not fortunate enough to have a college education, so these channels are very helpful to me in keeping up with the world.
i saw some of those threads last night, & wondered about them. don't know how they got started (really none of my business),but felt bad for those involved.
i know life is not all "peaches & cream", and not everyone is going to like me, and that's ok 'cuz there are some ppl in my life that i'm not particuarly fond of either. so i don't talk to them or about them.
i worked with someone who liked to gossip nasty things about others and i told her to tell whomever she was talking about to talk to them if she had a problem with them. don't come to me with your problems with others, cuz i can't do anything about it & if she didn't have anything nice to say then stay away from me. i imagine after that she started gossiping about me, but i really didn't care.
no, not at all. there are quite a few people here that i would love to meet as well. i feel i have made a lot of friends since i've been here and would love the opportunity to meet them in person.
good question, i wish i had an answer for that one. maybe some of these writings are so old that whoever wrote them has been forgotten, but their words lived on.
There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren't the way you had hoped they would be,
....that's when you have to tellyourself that things will get better.
There are times when people disappoint you and let you down,
but those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself and all that you are capable of.
There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life,
and it is up to you to accept them.
Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you. It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are, So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities,
remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be, because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you.
