I personally think that cell phones should be put away when one is on a date .... if your phone vibrates with a message, at least excuse yourself and go to the bathroom to check if its an emergency or not (call them when your date is over) - otherwise ignore it.
Having sat with someone on a first date as they texted their teenager over something that wasn't important and could have waited until they got home, I realized that they were not "present" and engaged in the moment.
I think if you want someone to take you seriously, give them your time and effort.
I'll be honest and say that there are a few things that I look for such as are they showing up, at least on time or call to say if they'll be late, dressed up at least a little (ie. have they made an effort), good manners such as not talking on their cell phone or bringing it out to look at it constantly (to me that's annoying), how they interact with others besides me, how we get along (ie. good flow of conversation, laughter) and whether there is chemistry.
Chris Hadfield = Space Oddity ......... amazing array of videos and wow he did a great job on this song. Another one is on youtube with the Barenakedladies as well
Perhaps its time to take a break, for indeed one can commit a lot of time and energy into trying to get to know people, but in the end it doesn't work. I think the same thing happens in real life as well, but perhaps the time frame is simply shorter and we move on sooner. Things here seem to be dragged on forever unless its someone local that you connect with.
Remember that not everyone is false and untrue as well, there are many great people out there, but its a matter of weeding through people to understand their motives, goals and really why they are here.
Be wise as to who you invest your time and energy with.
Thanks for all the replies ... it seems that we are basically on the same page (I like rebellious people!!) lol
I was curious as to what others thought as yesterday in reading the left handed thread I decided to look at what merchandise was available online for us "lefties" .... the particular site I went too immediately had a popup window about clicking and linking to facebook ..... what does facebook have to do with me wanting to see their merchandise?
As well, in the past, I've tried to get online coupons and been redirected to log onto facebook in order to obtain the coupon. If I don't log in, no coupon. I choose not to obtain that coupon.
Venus I've seen "linked" as well for business profiles .... glad to see that info as I was unaware. I have been trying to brainstorm ideas for jobs/careers so part of my thinking was while I may totally like these forms of advertising, it must in fact work, otherwise it would be discontinued.
That's surprising to me, for that is usually one of the first things I notice about someone as it looks "weird" to me when someone is using their left hand to write or such other activity.
I'm curious as to what most people think about social media sites and the intrusion that seems to be prevalent within the most ordinary of activities which link back to these sites.
Perhaps I'm "getting old" lol but when I click on a site do I really need to have Facebook and/or Pininterest links readily available to click onto? These are merely a couple of examples that I use, but am I one of the few that is resistant to clicking on these? I frankly rarely log onto facebook as I can call my friends so it really doesn't interest me as a site to frequent.
I suppose what I'm trying to get at is that in many ways I feel that we are manipulated by stores/sites etc. to be forced into hitting that click button in order to get something as simple as a "coupon" or enter a contest. Why do I need to see "tweets" across the bottom on my tv screen when I'm watching The Voice or some such show?
Perhaps I simply need to get smarter and play the game and use these sites to my advantage for a business venture .... it does make one think. So what are your thoughts and experiences?
RE: Interview the person below
