They have all the technology they need now on the ISS. Obama is clever enough to know that an attempted moon landing in 2018 would waste too much money now and he has pulled the plug on it. They are still anxious to go to the moon because of the fear that someone else will beat them to it. You can bet they are keeping a Very close eye on the Japanese (JAXA) and India's space programs. Russia will do anything to help both programs.
For an airline pilot to pitch up into a stall is a very bad sign of a pilot !!! He must have been a very bad pilot !!
In flight training it is standard procedure (in the simulator) to glide from any altitude and land safely. This is a major priority with the Ryanair guys. They spend lots of sim time practising that one.
The 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and the new 787 (Dreamliner) are all very similar to fly.
I have just heard that the long awaited 737 fligh simualotor for the PC will be launched anytime between now and Aug 4th.
It is by a company called PMDG and has been developed with Boeing themselves and tested by aircraft technicians and Boeing test pilots. It has been in fulltime development since 2006 and is finally ready. ( 2 years behind schedule ) but I just can't wait to get my hands on it. It will cost 90 US dollars and can be downloaded from their site or purchased on DVD. This is the BEST real 737 simulation available today.
