One time I was walking along and a kitty jumped out of the bushes and meowed at me. It was really cute! Then some Care Bears flew over in their Cloudmobile and shot me in the face with a rainbow beam of love. I started dancing and the kitty meowed some more. Then I ran down the street shouting "I WUV EVERYONE" and I scared a bunch of emo kids. Fortunately the Care Bears were still in the area, so they shot the emo kids with the rainbow beam and they all turned into rabbits. The rabbits hopped around for a while, then began to eat grass. Silly rabbits, they even ate the mushrooms growing in the grass, and unfortunately they were not magic mushrooms, they were poisonous mushrooms and the rabbits all died. Then the sky opened up and Jesus came down and raised all the rabbits from the dead. I ran down the street shouting "PRAISE JESUS" and then was hit by a passing cube van. Jesus wept. Then he healed my wounds and asked for payment. I said "Get a real job, hippy" and ran away laughing. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream? Mine is donkey. Thank you for letting me waste your time.
I'm no expert on real estate as I rent an apartment, so I can only give this as an example:
2 years ago my parents sold their average house in an average neighbourhood for approximately 130k.
A friend of mine told me that nice houses in certain parts of rural Sask are going for cheap.. like 20k, 30k.. in the city, the same type of house might cost 150k or more, depending on the area of the city it's in.
Crappy house in crappy area of Regina - 25k-70k? You'll definitely get what you pay for.
At the rate that the "rich" areas of Regina are growing, it leads me to believe that there is indeed a lot of money in this province, but it's not being put to good use (self glorification vs. improving the quality of life of our low income residents).
Any real estate expert's input here would be most welcome!
If you are into punk rock in one form or another, stop in and say oi here and feel free to promote your favorite punk rock bands in here. Or if you just got a new tattoo or piercing, let's hear about it!
I'm hoping we get some input from the international punks as well.
Some of my favorites are UK Subs, Dead Kennedys, Subhumans, DOA, Germs, Fear, Crass, Dayglo Abortions.
An open question to anyone who was adopted and hasn't met their biological family yet:
Do you want to meet your biological family?
My answer to this question is: no.
However, it would still be nice to know what sort of ailments run in my biological family and if I have a high risk of developing these illnesses in the future.
(sub-question - if you are adopted and have met your biological family, and don't mind sharing your experiences here, how did it go for you?)
Is it just me or has anyone also noticed this - an overabundance of ad campaigns designed by the government to make smokers look like disgusting, evil people.
Local governments are quick to build methadone clinics to help people quit using IV drugs as it is a terrible addiction to cope with on many levels.
Would it not also benefit our society to build "patch clinics" or "Zyban clinics" instead of waging a personal war against smokers? Or at the very least, to give out the patch and nicotine gum for free with a prescription from your doctor.
An idea: If everyone started 1 thread per day it will help keep the forums going... Gibsonish did a great job with the forums, he's a fine writer and a classy thinker so now we all have some work to do to fill the gap.. but hey.. we can do it!
oops forgot.. I'm listening to this Akashic Crow's Nest stuff and this isn't the same.. though I do feel like I am adrift in space... so I guess I also like Akashic Crow's Nest.
And here's a recommend for a metal band called Akashic (Brazil). My friend tipped me off here as I don't normally listen to this type of music (power metal?) but I liked this band a lot when he played them the other day.. so if you enjoy the heavier tunes, check em out!
