I think it's normal, healthy and proper for a couple to exchange little white lies between each other, to keep peace, to keep a calm situation from exploding, to keep a molehill from becoming a mountain, that kind of thing. The only time that lies from women became and issue for me, was because they had drug dependency problems and understandably, their addiction came first in life. A lot of covering up. Sad.
My goodness, your thoughts and feelings of giving gifts and flowers on a first date. Your heart it golden, noble and genuine indeed. My best advice, is to pay for dinner at the restaurant. Flowers and gifts should be given only after a relationship has been established. What would really be important to her, is for you to express, in words, your feelings and thoughts about her. Lots of eye contact and hand holding.
Similar events have seemed like a strange 'deja vu' to me. I believe it does happen to all of us, not all of the time, but enough to get our attention. There are terms to describe these events: Magical phenomenon, intuition, gut feelings.
