My great grandmother was 104 when she attended my wedding. She didn't need any help to walk and looks absolutely beautiful in my wedding photos. She died a few months later in her sleep.
Both my grandmothers died in their nineties, one of them just last year.
I've been here longer than most on and off and there is still only a handful of people I would trust.
I've seen so called friendships and relationships here destroyed, often behind the scenes via private messaging initially, then openly on the forums so many times it's simply not worth getting too friendly unless you can really trust them, which as you have noticed after such a short time is not easy.
I went to a book launch and talk this evening and bought the book at the end of the evening as I was so impressed. It's called La Masoneria Femenina en España and I've just started reading it.
I have a desire for a trip. I have itchy feet, something which I try to contain as it's an obsession, but it's been quite some time now since I experienced working and living in another country. In fact, four years when I left Spain to live in Russia was the last time.
The problem with these quizzes is that most of us know what the best responses are, so we are not as honest as we should be in order to get the best results.
I don't do them unless they are real questions with right or wrong answers.
Changing work skills is not really so difficult. We must adapt to changes throughout our working lives otherwise we remain dinosaurs! I constantly update my teaching skills, it's an ongoing process. I maintain my skills by taking exams, attending courses etc. However, it's much more difficult in my opinion to change one's day to day life. We tend to get set in our ways the older we get, and that's a huge mistake which I'm trying to work on and avoid.
Everybody has the right to have a copy of their medical records in the Western world, at least as far as I'm aware. There may be a small financial charge in some countries, for example in England which I know because an aunt of mine needed copies for claiming a particular disability benefit.
For once I tend to agree with Obstinance. Given the 1 year specified by the OP, I doubt there would be as much trauma for the babies or the parents concerned when compared with the more extreme trauma which would most likely be experienced further on down the line.
Any mother knows how a bond is formed immediately with their newborn baby, particularly if breastfeeding. However, I just know that I would never be able to give up my own flesh and blood, given life as in my case from a loving relationship. I would want to keep this baby which was not mine clearly having formed a bond after twelve months, but not at the expense of not being able to hold and bring up my own baby.
This is a new facility which started when I left CS for a year recently so I'm not too familiar with it. Like you though Jim I wouldn't use it anyway, what's the point? People can open the banned posts anyway can't they?. Those who choose to ban posts in their threads simply end up making themselves look silly at best, and selfish and inflexible at worst.
I don't think it's a bad habit, more annoying I suppose, but I tend to tidy up too quickly after people who have used my kitchen. They think they've done a good job, but, well you know what I mean.....I hope.
Some profiles are confusing though. They say only here for the forums but still have a description of what type of man or woman they are looking for. Why not delete all that stuff?
