Well, it wasn't the bulls and frogs doing "it" together, I know that much...I was a pretty naive country kid, but knew from an early age how things came about....growing up on a farm is very enlightening like that.
I remember one night my boyfriend stayed over(he slept out in the lounge....of course I sneaked out to see him). Dad woke up, shining the torch and muttering "the bulls are out"...lol I had scrambled behind a door.
I was petrified.
....but there were ACTUAL bulls out of their paddock outside.
My boyfriend and I had a chuckle about it afterward.
I can recall, being a bit of a tomboy...helping Dad hose down the milking shed, making "dens" in the haybales in the haybarn with my 3 brothers.
Driving the tractor was a buzz.
I also remember eeling with my brothers down at the river. I hated the slimy eels, and it wasn't till years later that I was game enough to try smoked eel...which I surprisingly enjoyed.
We'd busy ourselves with calf club day. I attended a very small rural primary school. Those were the days when we would line up with our mugs for hot cocoa during winter.
During summer we(the neighbours and us) would play bull-rush on the front lawn.
We had a couple of motorbikes on the farm and I used to love riding up and down the farm track. We also had a pool table and because we were all so competitive, there was lots of.
It was a happy time....the vast open space, being carefree. We didn't watch much tv at all. Most of our time was spent outside and we all got involved with sports in a big way.
....and then we all grew up and became responsible, logical, practical...
