That reminds me of where I once worked and a snooty individual sent round a memo of said lesson and his work colleague chopped up the memos and stuck them to all the toilet holders.
When the man comes home so the woman goes out to work and when both are out the children are left with minders/carers. The parents often have to do multiple jobs because we have a thing called zero hours contracts and most jobs are said to be temporary too.
Some of the more well paid jobs eg National Health Service etc offer long, unsociable hours and workers are enticed into taking them or even pressured into it because of the needs of the patients for example. The same is true to a degree with the legal profession and many others.
Both my children work from home but are working day and night so their children often have to be invisible.
Is it any wonder that kids bury their heads in computer games and alike?
I think we call that the poverty trap here. But I must say I don't think it's quite as harsh here but Renters still get very little for their money. Having said that it is becoming increasingly difficult for anyone to manage their financial affairs in UK.
Lower taxes, will goes a long way to preventing poverty and homelessness. I know because I had to send someone down the road when the taxes made it impossible to make a profit.[/quote Some people are just no good with money and no matter how much money is thrown at them they still manage to lose it so reducing taxes may not be the most obvious solution.
Maybe Homelessness should be debated in schools so that if they're facing it as a young adult they might have some idea how to deal with it or how to 'work hard to rectify the problem'.
There should be a poll or blog on this subject alone. Obviously much has been learnt by the professionals who are commenting. We can accept that it happens regardless but when we see it increasing so dramatically surely there has to be a line of thought to help prevent it.
When someone has been homeless and living rough they will know there are no set reasons why a person finds themselves in this position. People who become traumatised will find it impossible to do 'the hard work' you mentioned.
But that is less of an answer and more of a prediction.
Yes we are victims of our own historic ideals and that will always be the case. I brought my children up to understand that you can never buy or borrow what you're not able, absolutely, to pay back ie by selling something or because it's truly guaranteed from some other source. Before long 'guarantee' will disappear from the dictionary.
Every 13yrs we are told to expect a recession of sorts. It wasn't that long ago when we were told that we'd have to share our jobs and we'd all be working far less hours, then computer technology introduced jobs beyond all expectation and saved the day(or did it) The next stage will be Automation taking over our jobs. But watch this space as global warming or a cultural war could see us all needing the old fashioned survival skills and how many of us will be armed with them.
I hope we can see the importance of what we should do now or we'll be going down the same bloody road.
I'd like to think that equality will come one day. We're becoming more subservient and politically correct but at the same time egotistical and corrupt. Most of the poll choices would help I'm sure and votes are proving that so in future I guess the only way we can make constructive and fair decisions is to educate our children in the value of family support (not financial), truthful economics and constructive, survival techniques.
That is also very true but in my city homelessness doubled in the last 12months so something relevant must be happening here. Or maybe something is not happening??
I was on here a few months ago and I found some folk quite rude and competitive and they would dig away at you as if they were themselves quite ill. I'm finding that if you don't have a face they tend to pass you by more quickly. I guess that this way they don't see you as a threat
Well All, prevention is better than the cure. Some of us are alone because we offend or have the affects of this stuff and some are alone because we can't tolerate it. Shame we can't put our heads together and agree that warm blooded comfort beats all.
