I should never have been friends with my Ex but our children said the thing that hurt them the most was that we didn't talk. We agreed to be polite to one another and we are when we come across one another at family functions or supermarket etc.
Now our children seem to hate that we are civilised to one another.
I've stopped caring either way. What will never change is that after 33yrs of marriage no one will every know as much about either of us as we do.
I answered 'no' because I have no interest in being his friend.
You'd be right about the breakfast have you ever tried negotiating your way round a piece of toast that is falling apart and the jam looked like it shouldn't be disturbed.
BUT every morning was such a statement and I was loving it.
The summerhouse thing was my Ex husband and one of many exciting locations.
Making love on the floor of the summer house on the far side of the lake in the moonlight.
Being brought breakfast in bed every morning. A heart etched in the toast and jam moulded into a red heart on the side and a scattering of small, scented flowers from the garden.
That's very romantic ??? BUT I had a boyfriend who always did that to me after making love and I made the mistake of mentioning how nice it felt and he said,
You don't suck at all. You were created by us and our short comings. Now that we've relaxed so many of the laws that were there to protect us, your generation are taking things to excess.
You don't suck at all. We should take full responsibility for the under 45's if they have problems.
