I feel like M4 if you don't have expectations then you won't have disappointments either. For me, I do a lot of listening and observing at the same time, I like to lay my cards on the table that way I know where I stand. Either it works out or it's time to bail....next.
I also to like to see more positive, mature comments on all threads. I agree that certain threads are made to be or become comical and that's great because sometimes people just want to have fun and get tired of so much negativity.
Threads like this one are nice and am curious to see how this one turns out.
Oh wow! That is very kind of you to say. I appreciate that. I try to stay clear of political debate topics, one is because I don't debate very well and those threads can become ferocious, lol, and I get too pissed off. I never post on religion either.
But, I'm only human and when I have strong feelings on certain topics, I can't help but to go on the defense and I can get a little ugly sometimes, lol, and especially with certain posters. There is one person who I will not post on his/her threads because that person gets on my nerves, lol.
Many years ago I had a female friend who needed a place to stay because she lost her job after 25 years and a few months later her dad and her husband passed away. She went off the deep end. We had been been friends for 30 years so I couldn't turn my back on her.
We argued about the top 4 options you listed, chores and she started hanging with a rough crowd and was inviting them over to my house on a constant basis and until all hours of the night. She wasn't trying to recover from her unfortunate losses but instead went to being someone who I no longer knew. She needed therapy to grieve the loss of her husband and dad and try to find new employment. I gave her enough time to get professional help and when I realized I was only enabling her behaviour, I had her move out and it broke my heart to do so.
