I have had outside cats and indoor cats. I much prefer indoor cats. My outdoor cat would catch bunnies, birds, mice and chipmunks and present their bloodied little corpses on the back porch in front of the door. It was very upsetting to me as an animal lover, but it was just the nature of a predator.

That cat and one of my dogs got hit by a car in the span of 6 months and I vowed never to have another outside animal.

Now, I have 2 indoor cats.

Armadillos cause spike in leprosy cases in Florida

(CNN)There are an unusually high number of leprosy cases cropping up in Florida.

Experts said they believe the spike is because of people coming into contact with armadillos.

Florida typically sees two to 12 cases of leprosy a year, but so far there have been nine cases in 2015, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The latest case was diagnosed in Flagler County three weeks ago.

Some armadillos, placental mammals with leathery armor, are naturally infected with leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Armadillos are one of the only known animals to carry leprosy, an age-old disease that causes skin and nerve damage.

The CDC says it is possible to contract leprosy through contact with armadillos, but it is usually unlikely.

Leprosy is a rare disease, and there are on average 50 to 100 cases in the United States every year, according to Dr. Sunil Joshi, president-elect of the Duval County Medical Society in Florida.



I decided I want to keep my body parts intact, not falling off in bits.

I am Team Cat. I've always had cats. I love their independence, but they can be loving when they want to. But I also grew up having dogs. The only things I don't like about dogs is: crotch sniffing, jumping up on you and trying to lick your face. Yuck! Dog breath!

Oh, you are missing out! I promise you would love it. the zombies are just the backdrop. The main story is the drama that goes on as the characters fight to survive in a world gone wrong, while still holding on to their humanity. Awesome stories of survival and perseverance.
