I am Team Cat. I've always had cats. I love their independence, but they can be loving when they want to. But I also grew up having dogs. The only things I don't like about dogs is: crotch sniffing, jumping up on you and trying to lick your face. Yuck! Dog breath!
if I had a pet it would be a dog. little more work with owning a dog but that would be my choice.I have had a dog and cat when I was a kid both where good pets.
dogs and horses and a few chicken ,and on off my dogs has pets to ,the rabits are eaten ,just like the sheeps ,and pigs , my dogs will eat cats if they will intrude my house ,just like the visiters too
How can one side with either, if you're an animal lover. I have a dog, and two cats, and although they don't always get along perfectly, I love them all.
It's a cool and rainy day here, so we're all indoors, and the dog is bored, so he feels it's ok to chase the cats for entertainment. The cats feel otherwise, but they know where to run and hide, where they can watch the dog and laugh at him, and also when they can approach the dog and say hello.
pat8lanips: I would like to have a rather large armadillo.
I was interested in getting a nine-banded armadillo until I found out something disturbing about them:
Armadillos cause spike in leprosy cases in Florida
(CNN)There are an unusually high number of leprosy cases cropping up in Florida.
Experts said they believe the spike is because of people coming into contact with armadillos.
Florida typically sees two to 12 cases of leprosy a year, but so far there have been nine cases in 2015, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The latest case was diagnosed in Flagler County three weeks ago.
Some armadillos, placental mammals with leathery armor, are naturally infected with leprosy, also known as Hansen's disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Armadillos are one of the only known animals to carry leprosy, an age-old disease that causes skin and nerve damage.
The CDC says it is possible to contract leprosy through contact with armadillos, but it is usually unlikely.
Leprosy is a rare disease, and there are on average 50 to 100 cases in the United States every year, according to Dr. Sunil Joshi, president-elect of the Duval County Medical Society in Florida.
I decided I want to keep my body parts intact, not falling off in bits.

Hi Willow I have a little guy called "Bix" after "Weet bix" hes a foxy terrier cross ratty dog, cool pointed ears, and yes he's a dog! I dig cats but out here on the farm hes a little dude that freaks if hes not riding on the tractor sitting cruising on the motor cross, playing with the cows and totally teasing the pigs. He has a real soft spot for children, and goes to the farm next door to play with 4 year old Ella. But he does bring home her toys. Balls, little princess tiaras, and a couple of barbie dolls.

My late Parents use to have cats, and although i don't mind them, i prefer not to keep any. The thing i don't like about them is the way they tend to do the "wild thing" and go after native Fauna and are difficult to house train, as well as preferring to go out on the prowl at night... nor can you keep them confined to your own property and therefore may inconvenience your neighbours too. Another thing is, is that i'm a keeper of tropical fish in a large display tank, and so wouldn't want a cat to pester or threaten them either. Although i presently don't have a dog, i much prefer them for company as i view them more as a family member than any other animal, due to their intelligence, loyalty, usefulness and affection ... just my opinion!

He sounds adorable. You are so lucky to live on a farm and I know what hard work it is.

I have had outside cats and indoor cats. I much prefer indoor cats. My outdoor cat would catch bunnies, birds, mice and chipmunks and present their bloodied little corpses on the back porch in front of the door. It was very upsetting to me as an animal lover, but it was just the nature of a predator.
That cat and one of my dogs got hit by a car in the span of 6 months and I vowed never to have another outside animal.
