I'm floating in conceptuality...and not well I might add
I am woman hear me roar.. is as good as song as any as an anology. The song came from thought, then became words, then became, in your words Trish, an addition to the momentum (action) of the woman's movement. Not a lot of lives where lost, some indeed, but a very effective use of the (generally) female perspective on, I have some thoughts, lets talk first.
Doesn't that become a conjunctive idealogy Ray? Blurry shmurry .. Are you wasting your words here? Surely if voice means nothing you have undermined your own wisdom for change to realism??
great song .. maybe we could collectively make a day in the future where every radio station and web cast site and every person puts that song on at the same time.
I think you two are of the same machine.. Woman with her concepts and words and man with his strength of action. (speaking in generalities of course) same team, tandem.. ?? otherwise we row the boat in circles
You're right, same thoughts here ..in consideration of the power that I as one individual has I can only speak up. It is my right and my duty and my responsibility to do so. From there comes change, the powers that hear my voice andthat have more than sticks , that have the force of either diplomacy first or brute force second, affect the change 'of the collective conciousness.'
Your personal experience Daniel, is a microcosm of the world at large. Defending what you feel is righteous and using whatever means necessary to that end. I am sure you would have preffered talking or a peaceable solution, but if the aggressor has no peaceful intent then you use the power you have in the name of human dignity and right to live under the very terms you say, no matter their personal size or strength.
Trish, thinking just maybe this becomes a joint effort so to speak. That speaking out inspires and plots direction for the masses. I am wholeheartedly for pacifist revolution as you say ( the less lives lost the better) but in the absence of diplomacy comes force. A force mind you that is born of pacifist ideals?
Most would give her kudos for the cause of righteousness. This is exactly my point though I don't condone violence, sometimes we have to see that evil and or its cousins are met with the same force, male or female, whether it is singular or collectively.
I'm am often reminded of Newton's 3rd law when it comes to power and force. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Karma in the now.
SOme pretty dispicable things going on in the world. Things that just atlking won't change. Diplomacy is a great tool with diplomatic people and I for one would also prefer that course of action. It however ins't always a feasbale course to take, when that person you speak of becomes aggressive and careless about another's life.
Thats the time you make a choice, about what love is and what evil is and what to do about it, more so when it's closer to home, your own life for example. World leaders have to make those choices for all man or at least their country in order to maintain that respect for human life.
A lot of people feel that way. Our actions define us way before the labels get stuck on... It isn't easy to do those separations for most people. But the separations exist. Also a reality imho.
A good question is Daniel. Some don't care about who's wrong and some know they are but could careless about who gets injured in the cause. Like sending car bombers to their death, instead og themsleves. Thats what evil is. Doesn't matter what their cause is even if it has some merit, to instigate that cause with mayhem and murder is the evil part. They ignore or get frustrated that their voice isn't heard or have some racial or personal hunger for power and set about to set kill to be heard and or control.
My son is onto alternative energy and installed a windmill in his backyard. After he did he was hit a large number of regulations and a tax for doing so. He had to take it down even though it was an alternative and saves on fossil fuels use. (but the oil companies have plenty of it, don't let em kid you)
Oil company and Gov't complaints about low resourses is all about price and profit. They have managed to lobby government law makers and put many restraints on the citizen who wants to avoid an energy crisis (there really isn't one) and save himself some money. Its fekkin criminal, but what can you do.
they won't let you get away from oil.
Yes you can get energy from the sun (solar panels) but that cost is so prohibitive that only an oilman can afford it.
I think its lot bigger than that. The oil companies have so much invested in oil and its offshoots that changing that now would throw the most countries into the economic abyss.
Can you imagine how many people would lose jobs. How many companies would go bankrupt if such a plan where implemented. Ecomomies would crumble! Bush signed some document a couple of years back to encourage hydrogen fuel, but little has happened to change things. The oil comapnies aren't interested in losing profits to retrofit the massive number of factories and plants that exist today .. not to mention pipelines, ships and other methods of delivery that are in place now ... would be catastrophic .. will take a very long time I think.
And thats just the US, add everyother oil dependant country and their refineries and delivery sytems and you have one pretty large elephant to get rid of. and that elephant has all the money.
true .. and if you look into its affect in China, the controls that were once on use of the web. Some controls still exists but even they are backing off in 'light' of the people who have gotten a tatse and want more.
I have heard some people think China will be part of the next world war, because if its large population. I just dont think so. I think the popualtion will want what we call democracy and freedom in whatever form, for all its goods and bad. Even the Chinese Gov't has to hear its people.
No I think the next war is apt to come from some individual, or well organised but relatively small group with nuke capabilites .. terrorism, guerilla warfare, is the new thing for now anyway.
I think the internet can help with this some as well. So many countries with oppressed people , more women in general who haven't seen the light of free expression in those countries can see what they're missing. This thing can reach a lot of people, maybe its as light as we can get
You can see the will of some woman who know what speaking up means here and in modern societies and you can also see women from male dominated countries taking notice but still floundering as women did here in theor beginnings to grab a piece of the freedom train.
I expected this topic to have a few tangents but there are soo many really. So, you do your little bit, hope someone decides properly on the bigger bits and vote accordingly or wait until anarchy happens and the dust settles for renewal?
At least do something.
I just looked at the monty python online page ... and guess what???
that was indeed my point .. while you and I and john lennon have hope, a much larger percentage of society is either too concerned with their own lives, or drugged, or sitting at their computer, or apathetic or being an ostrich. Such overwhelming odds..
My son once brought that very amendment up in a conversation with some of my american friends in much the same way you have. Whats the point of the amendment if it's not 'understood" to begin with (because most only see it as protection , not as the pro-active element it was meant to be) and then not used when necessary ... How do you get enough people to stand against possibly the largest war machine in the world, in your own country.
If thats not what youre suggesting I take that back, but it seems to be from here.
In theory ... but therein lies another part of the problem. Personal apathy.. no point in changing that.. drug dependancy is rampant in persuit of this 'good day' feeling.
Bush is from a diverse background? ummm .. is Blair, whats his background? And the guys in russia and china, hell Canada for that matter ... maybe I missed something youre talking about trish. what countries have this leader from diverse as opposed to ruling class background?
The Only Thing Necessary..
have a good one!
