and that is the real problem. average americans dont have the right books or even the desire to read them. no offence.
And it isn't just america, the dream is no longer an american owned dream, its become global and other countries have this 'same page, different book' problem as well.
but somewhat like .. how did jeffrey dalmer get ignored long enough to do the things he did. hindsight is 20-20.
Yes Iraq has caused a great deal of amercan lives, as well as Brits and other nationalities ... before the war as well as after.
My wishy though it is beyond reality would be to have bush and saddam settle their differences in a WWF cage but that wont happen.
I am often reminded of Startrek MR. Spock (slight chuckle) in these instances, when the life of one is weighed against the lives of the many ... your choice is obvious.
madass insane wasn't contained, he was, embargoed? didnt affect his personal life at all, nor his butchering ways.
The US isn't alone in their pursuits in the global arena . I think the US economically only owns about 32% of their own country. Heavy investment comes from GB, canada, the middle east, suadi arabia and other nations.
Even if these invested countries don't openly stand up and cheer for the US, they most certainly support them behind the scenes lest their investments crumble. The system is one of the best, not the best, it needs reworking and adjustment. However when you think about it from a global perspective, since most countries are intertwined in pursuit of a better tommorrow as well as economically, you begin to realize that bashing any country with democracy of any sort is as much bashing your own country by virtue of its global invetsment and views.
jmho ... trying to keep the original thread premise alive .. like that will ver happen
I dont disagree with your assertions.. but just to add a little perspective since this has become more a polical debate.
What thew US does on the world front(btw I am nor an amercan citizen) is something that the UN is charged with. Policing the world.
Unfortuneatly the UN is run by a bunch of pantiwaistes and pissants who can;t get their proverbial god fearing asses out of the way to make intelligent, justice work. For any justice system to work even a flawed one, there needs to be inforcement. perssonally I for anyone who has the balls and conviction to hold butchers and morons like saddam and others accountable, because the UN woosies will drag their feet while billions suffer at the hands of dictators.
Saddam knew the world didn't have any balls, took full advantage that as well as taking advantage of the 'god fearing' in his own country to control them and keep them down. Dealing with someone like that takes someone willing to BE like that, if only for a momment.
If saddam was your next door nieghbor, you would want someone, a police agency to come and deal with him ... balming the police for making that move is counter productive to justice for all. Does it have to be the US that is there all the time ... show me another country willing to make those moves for all people and I'll be just as happy to shake their hands as well.
Did you know that Great Britain has so much financial interest in the US, property, big business etc, that all the british investors pulled out, the US would collapse.
One has to think more globally here, assigning blame to any one country or taking offence to opinions no matter how uninformed or well informed they are is somewhat useless.
In fact, speaking from a purely economic point of view the US actually owns about 32% of its own country, the rest is owned by other countries (investement from abroad). They invest in the american dream. Why, because its as much theirs as it is the US's.
There is no need to bash any country when all interests are economically intertwined. When most countries, though they have slightly different systems all still favour some freedom of choice.
BTW- Micheal Moore just wants change at home, he isn't trying to bash his country so that other countries can bash america, he wants change at home, wants a better system for all, the true intent of the constitution. Misreading his intent as america bashing is ludicrous. He bashes the system.... the american dream and its nightmares so lets not confuse the issue on false premise...
Like most systems ... its flawed in its very nature.
Power is usually the functioning axis of most systems and democracy is no different. Representation of the people is sadly ignored in favor of those who have power and money.
I once watched a documentary myself, different from yours, where a politician in order to understand the position of the poor, decided he would try the homeless life , for a week!!??
This much stupidity can only come from someone who gets to go back to his posh life after that week. One can't experience poverty in a week. The condition is one that pervades a person's whole life, there is no ... "well I'll just put up with this for week" for them, because I'll be going back Boardwalk next week. Neither could they truely undersatnd a person in the middle income range by placing themselves there for a week.
Try putting a person of poverty in a rich person's life for a week. Might be a great week, but he's still going back to poverty and will only have learned how lucky some people are. True some people work their asses off and deserve their dream, but for most, the luck of the draw is the determining factor.
The 'dream' while it is great in principle is affected by things like luck, birth (silver spoon or plastic spoon family)... superficial judgements like looks, stature and countenance also affect how well your dream evolves.
A dream is a nightmare for some. Having said that, it is better than some places where even choice is taken away from you, and vote, and as much freedom as we have. I'm just saying that as long as the present system works for the rich who are in power, not much will get better for the 'people'... self interest prevails. jmho
you are acting like a terrorist ... carrying a grudge forever, hellbent on nothing but destruction, everyday you look to hurt, and blow someone up, so you can what? win? win what? bragging rights? How many times do yuo need to blow up someone elses towers. Please put down your mouthy sword and your verbal detonator.
do something constructive with your life , then you actually win something worthwhile.
