Yes this has happened to me quite a few times, I mailed gents (I use the word loosely) and received no reply. I do feel an aknowledgement of a mail would be the polite thing to do, I mean its not as if they are commited to anything by simply saying hi.
At first I found it disconcerting but now I just realise they are simply not intereseted and if they havent the manners to reply neither am I.
I agree if is about religion or politics I dont comment, actually rarely even look, also if I click on and the start of the thread is very long, sorry must not have a great attention span I like to be able to immediatly see what thread is about.
Sorry you feel that way but am glad you have pointed it out, perhaps some of us are more inclined to check out threads started by familier names. Please dont give up and do join in discussions.
