RE: Dec 18th- Dublin Get Together @ BREAK FOR THE BORDER

Hi C wave

I was hoping to make this one but unfortunately I'm having some health issues at the moment so can't make it. Hopefully I will see you at the next one though.

Have a great time cheers

RE: Your (user)name

Quite appropriate too applause

Mine is obvious. I'm a guy from Dublin who was born in 1973.

RE: Livid

I'd complain to the aviation authority here, the Bahrain International Airport and the Airline. It wasn't your fault you were left waiting there for a connecting flight. It was up to the airline to warn you about any stop overs and to wear the appropriate clothing etc. Spitting is technically assault so its totally unacceptable. If you were walking the streets then maybe they had a right to be offended (if it is deemed offensive in their culture) but in the airport, those rules should be relaxed and you should have been given the benefit of the doubt.

RE: New Newcastle Manager

I agree. O'Neill left Villa because he didn't get on with Lerner. I'd imagine Ashley would be even harder to get on with. I have heard he has a habit of interfering in team affairs and O'Neill won't like that.

I think Ashley will probably go for a cheap option like Pardew but i hope for the fans sake he doesn't because they could end up getting relegated like West Ham a few years ago.

Ashley needs to bring in a proven manager with experience to back the board's claim thats why they sacked Hughton. Otherwise he is just going to look more stupid than he already does.

Martin Jol wouldn't be a bad appointment as i thought he did okay at Spurs for the most part. He might want another crack at managing a premiership team although if i was him, i wouldn't touch the job with a ten foot barge pole.

RE: Feeling Lonely..

It is if your car is a triptronic (has both gears and automatic). I have a renault megane and they have a triptronic. I wouldn't even chance putting it into automatic because it can go up a gear when you don't want it to and you could end up skidding all over the road.

RE: Be Honest

thumbs up

RE: Be Honest

Depends on the distance i guess...

RE: Be Honest

I already am and yes I would. Some of us only come on here for the forums tongue

RE: social welfare

Fair play to you. I agree with you in theory but we are in a recession so beggars can't be choosers. In my opinion, the irish government or the retail trade should be doing more to keep down prices and make things more competitive. Prices are coming down in some places but others charge what they like. A lot of people can't afford to buy irish these days. Money is tight so i don't think anyone can begrudge another person for going up north if they can save a few quid. Some might call it putting money in the Queen's purse but if a person can save money then its better in their pocket than that of the government and the irish retailers. At the end of the day, times are hard and people have to look out for themselves.

RE: My Trouble is I am Over Sixty but I feel Like a young Woman

You looked like one with that nice red lipstick on ya on Valentine's Day last year tongue rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Pension Fund

Great post thumbs up

Its the big wig bosses that we should be made at not the workers that do a good job and get no thanks for it wave

RE: General Election! Fill Your Boots!

I hope you're right but somehow i doubt Enda Kenny will be ousted as FG leader anytime soon. Its not that long ago that Richard Bruton challenged him for the leadership and failed. I can't see there being another challenge to Kenny's leadership again so soon. They are probably thinking they need stability and in some deluded way, most of FG probably thinking that changing leadership now would be a bad move.

I would have loved to have seen Bruton as Taoiseach because i have known him for twenty odd years and think he is an honest man which is very rare in politics.

As for your last point of refining the dáil and the seanad and reducing the salaries held by those in the upper echelons, i couldn't agree more. thumbs up

RE: Intimidating rip off, before you pray !!!!

I totally agree. I can't see anyone would actually donate to a political party at a church gate collection (much less anywhere else for that matter) these days especially with the mess the country is in. I'd imagine not many people can afford to donate money and the ones that do would much prefer to donate to a reputable charity. At least then you know your money is going to a good cause instead of funding some fat cat's expense account.

RE: Meeting the Ex Husband

Great advice!! Let him know what he's missing out on laugh

RE: Meeting the Ex Husband

Good advice and if you are still bitter about it (and lets face it, who could blame you?!) then don't let others see it. It will just make you look bad.

RE: snow

I'll send some down to you if you take the snow as well rolling on the floor laughing

RE: snow

Yeah i don't think i have ever seen thunder and lightning that ba before. I heard it was snowing in Donegal last night but i never expected as much in Dublin. I hate snow frustrated

RE: Once you cross over that line from friends to lovers...

Failing that then i think you need to make a decision that its friendship only and just stick to it. Otherwise you end up in a friends with benefits situation and then things just get very confusing.

RE: Once you cross over that line from friends to lovers...

Sounds to me like you need to sit down face to face and have a long talk and tell him how you feel. It does seem like you are different in a lot of ways but do you have lots in common too? I mean enough that maybe it could work?

At the end of the day if it was to work then both of you are going to have to compromise equally.

If he is so certain you will always be there and tries to take charge of the situation then maybe thats all the more reason to talk with him about it and tell him its not on. Nobody likes being taken for granted. I'd tell him that its either equal or not at all. There doesn't always have to be someone in charge in my opinion. Its a relationship not a job wave

RE: Once you cross over that line from friends to lovers...

I was thinking the same thumbs up

RE: Once you cross over that line from friends to lovers...

There is obviously something else there besides the feelings of a best friend that is drawing you both to something more than friendship.....

RE: Once you cross over that line from friends to lovers...

What to do? Well i guess that all depends on why you don't see your relationship working out for a long term commitment. If there is lots of chemistry and you feel very comfortable with each other and just about the physical attraction, then its definitely a good thing.

RE: Financial support

Not as much as if it were further away but Ireland can still be expensive despite the recession plus the government are doing everything in its power to make things harder i.e. more taxes.

I'd go for a holiday, see how things go and then decide. Lining up job interviews is a good idea thumbs up

RE: New Party?

Michéal Martin has been tipped to take over if Cowen steps down. I don't think that would be too popular with the smokers though laugh

RE: New Party?

Then we would have a turkey as Taoiseach and a turkey as President? confused

Thank God Christmas is coming up applause

RE: The country is being run by the IMF, ECB, criminals and fraudsters.

Thats true and i think a lot of people if they do vote FG, they will vote despite him rather than because of him. For me Richard Bruton would make a far more credible Taoiseach.

RE: will he go now or

If FG and FF merge, it can be only good for FF and FG. Maybe FG. But the electorate would be the ones who suffer. If I'm not mistaken, at the moment they are the two biggest parties so right now if there is a general election if one doesn't get in, the other one will. If they merge as far as i can see, we would have no alternative if their party screws up. In other words, would the other parties get enough seats to be able to form a majority government?

Its doubtful.

RE: IMF

My father usually likes to "advise" me on who to vote for and gets annoyed if i don't take his advice. A few years ago, i copped on and started telling him exactly what he wanted to hear while continuing to vote the way i wanted laugh

RE: IMF

I'd say a lot of people would turn in their graves at the way the country is being run these days.

RE: IMF

Fair play to you, Capplause

I wish more people would give them the same treatmentwave
