Yeah I'd pay him the €360 and let him sue you for the rest. He probably won't even bother.
My car is up for NCT in August and even though its in pretty good nick, I am just going to let it go for the NCT first and then if it fails, i will have the necessary work done before getting the NCT done again if need be. It saves me having to have a service done before and then after the NCT if the garage does miss something. Also after the NCT, i will have a list of whats wrong with the car (or why it failed) so if the garage does claim there is something else wrong with the car then I will just tell them that NCT didn't spot it so i will take my chances.
I don't think its just a woman thing. Garages might think that more women than men might be clueless when it comes to cars but thats just a stupid stereotype. I know a lot of men who wouldn't know one end of an engine to another. I do think basic car maintenance should be part of the driving theory test though so we will know more about our cars and prevent garages from trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
I'd write to the Open University and tell them the problems you are having getting someone to certify it enclosing a photocopy of your passport and ask them for their advice.
It does seem odd that police in particular won't certify because i know here whenever i have renewed my passport or driver's licence, i have gone to a police station to have them sign it, there hasn't been any problem and they don't know me either.
But then maybe its because you are not British Citizen
I'd agree with most of that apart from the highlighted part. I think that women don't want a man to solve their problems because mostly they are capable of that themselves.
Sometimes they just want a man to listen and show that he listens.
It sounds to me like he is a bit immature. Kind of a case of he is not sure he wants to date you but doesn't want another guy to date you either.
The phrase "you snooze, you lose" springs to mind. If he wanted to date you, you would think he would stop procrastinating and arrange a date.
As far as i can see unless you have already been on a few dates with him or are in a relationship then you owe him nothing and are certainly free to date whoever you like.
Most likely FG and Labour although FG may even get a majority on their own. FF and the Greens look to have been destroyed in this General Election which isn't surprising really. On the whole, the results (so far) have been pretty much as i expected. What i find weird is FG and Labour have spent the last few weeks slagging each other off and criticising each other's policies and then a couple of days before the election, they do U-turn and say they might form a government together?
It depends on how much you like him or not. What i mean is if you like him then i would talk to him about it but if you're not that into him, i wouldn't bother seeing him again. If he is so nonchalant about it, its doubtful he will change. Three glasses of wine, he may not have been drunk but he certainly wouldn't have passed a breathalyser plus his reactions would be a bit slower. He said he would take back roads but what if someone was walking along those back roads and he hit them because his reaction time was slower? He could kill someone.
Actually i don't see the point in even having one drink if you're driving. I wouldn't even mind if they reduced the legal limit to zero. I just don't think its worth it the hassle.
I do think governments should be doing more to improve public transport in the country though. If someone lives miles from the nearest town, they either have to stay at home and drink or go out and not drink. The government could help by waiving road tax for certain vehicles and give a subsidy towards insurance or something like that so the publican could afford to have a mini bus for his customers. He could even charge a nominal fee to cover petrol.
Well some may see it as being rammed down their throats but i don't think they do no more than any other subject. I'll probably get stick for saying this but kids can be be lazy sometimes. If they don't have to do something, they won't bother. If they make irish optional, there will probably be lots of kids who will pick something easier to learn, not necessarily something that would be more beneficial to them. If that happens, i think the kids who actually are interested in learning irish won't be able due to lack of numbers to make up class sizes. It will come down to school budgets and the like and if that happens then it will be only a matter before it will be scrapped altogether. Now THAT would be a massive shame!
SnowlynxI haven't read the whole thread so maybe i missed it but how exactly are the government spending millions to promote the irish language?
I think before they even think of making irish optional for the leaving cert, maybe they should come up with new ways of teaching it so kids don't resent learning it so much. I don't understand the argument that it should be dropped because kids are forced to learn it. If that was the case, school would be dropped altogether. If they revamp the way it is taught and the syllabus then maybe it would actually thrive. If I'm not mistaken, they speak dutch, french or german in Belgium. Whats to stop us from speaking irish and english here?
True and if you don't live in Cork and even if you don't drink, there are still expenses like hotels and petrol/train or bus fare etc so i agree it can be difficult financially to go to both meets.
Having said that, i think you might get a few people who go because the date of the Sherkin may not suit them for whatever reason. Small meets can be fun too
I can't speak for Godsgift but i took it that he meant that because the Sherkin meet was already organised, it may not be a good idea to have the other cork meet within a few weeks of the Sherkin meet because not everyone would be able to afford to go to both so the attendance for the other cork meet might suffer. I don't think he was saying it shouldn't happen if im not mistaken
I agree. I have been to a good few meets and i think it adds to the craic when there is a nice balance between ages....JMO.
RE: Am i right??
Maybe but this isn't a text message and i think women are not going to reply if they can't understand a word you're saying
