My youngest son said.. 'Yeah mum! tell them we want witness protection.. We can change ours names! and they might give us a really cool house to live in!'
hahaha.. all that is STILL going on.. (nearly four weeks now)
it's been so funny! You would think it was the bloody crown jewels that got stolen.
I have had to write a statement... which took and hour the first time.. (over the phone)... and another 30mins a little later..
The police have been calling me once a week to give me an 'update' on the 'case'
They had to post the statement to me to sign.. and post back. (Except they just called me to say I had missed signing the most important bit hahah) So they are holding it at the desk of a Police Station 15 miles away.. and want me to come in and sign it.
They have asked me if I am will to go to court at a witness... (A witness to WHAT?... all I know is my car registration plate was there... and then it wasn't. )
and have asked me if I am 'Easily intimidated' ... and asked me if I would like to talk to someone in ' Victim support' ....
Unfortunately dementia is just 'one of those things' ... that families often end up having to deal with.
You all need to try your best to not take to heart what she says..
and TRY to see it as not the 'Real her' talking when she says things like that.
A lot of the things.. you reeeeeally need to try to let go in one ear and out the other.
TBH there isn't a lot more you can do.. than perhaps all sit down and have a talk about it.. (without her around).. and try to all start to see it the same way... to start to handle it the same way.
If you can all try to stick together on that you will find it gets a bit easier.
My car and the stolen reg plate..
hahah
