I am not fond of those sayings either and I do try to avoid people who put it in their words.

Plus, the no baggage, they are all cliches that I dislike.

We all have a past, it is part of us, we should not forget that, especially when a person has lost a loving partner in the way that you have. Because you would like a new partner, this in no way means that your thoughts and your little crys, should not be shared with a new partner.
