yes, we all know where the problem lies but we can't fight the government. even if we did somehow manage to persuade them to reduce the fuel tax, they'd just slap the deficit on to cigarettes, alcohol, road tax (which cost over £300 per year if u drive a 4x4) or simply close down yet another school, post office or hospital.
at the moment nobody seems to be doing very much. there are a handful of people (including myself) who have boycotted BP stations and hope that we can persuade enough people in the uk to join in and make BP feel the pinch. if this happens then BP would either HAVE to drop their prices or lobby the government to reduce the fuel tax (which is around 75%). a price war at the pumps is inevitable in the not so distant future. perhaps recession isn't that far away either. house prices have already began to fall for the first time in many years and it's predicted they'll again fall by as much as 10% by the end of the year. the country's going nuts
i think you musta misread. you guys pay what for fuel? $3.50 per GALLON (approx)? we're paying almost the same for 1 LITRE - which would amount to well over $10 per gallon. Also, i said that basic shopping bills has RISEN by $40 per week. to keep a 900 sq ft apartment at 62 deg over here would cost WELL over $100 per month - which will soon also soon be increased by another 40%.
seriously, you guys think you're bad but you ain't seen NOTHING YET! in th euk we pay an average £1.23 ($2.40 approx) per LITRE for fuel at the pumps. the average shopping bill has risen by around £20 ($40) per week, household gas incresed by 18% & electricity by 12% a few months back - now we're being told gas is likely to increase by FORTY PERCENT come the winter.meanwhile, the government has asked employers to minimise any wage increases, suggesting that perhaps 2.5%-3% wage increases would suffice!!
i don't get why people are so nervous on first dates. i think they're actually pretty easy. be yourself, make a point of having fun with or without him (since you'll have made the effort anyway) and relax. if you don't hit it off then you haven't really lost anything since you never had it in the first place. now SECOND dates......they're stressful
i think you have me confused with a sheep who follows the flock regardless. without wishing to become embroiled in another argument, i made my OWN judgements based on the posts you'd made and the fact you think you can e-mail someone with your opinions then not allow them the right to reply. i never attacked you, i just disagreed with some of your views - as did others. happens from time to time
well slap my bum and pickle my nuts! i actually find myself agreeing with alex 192. (never thought i'd ever say THAT!).
firstly, moonfoxinthesnow you did nothing wrong........BUT..........if he'd checked and saw you'd opened his mail and never replied, chances are he may have thought you deliberately ignored his mail and had no intention of ever replying, in which case he may have been offended. i guess i can kinda understand if that were indeed the case. not the way i'd have handled it but then, i don't often send people mail cos i'm an unsociable, grumpy scot with a spotty bum.
