Capitalism is an economic concept - an idea - It is predicated on the idea that accumulating wealth is good.
Greed however is not so good in that it leads to uneven distribution of wealth within a community. It is Capitalists - those that practice Capitalism that need frequent morality checks. Or at least enforceable regulatory controls.
Yes - I was the family historian at one point. I kept seeing repeated stories of young girls being married off to older men. One old guy lost 5 wives to child birth before he kicked off.
Talk is cheap Trump has gone out of his way to curtail any science research. Does he really think signing one of his black folder mandates will cure cancer? Nixon, for all his faults, did support cancer research, the result being the linkage between cigarette smoking and cancer was locked down. I say, put your money where your mouth is, Donald.
Donald Trump is not autistic. His son, Baron, maybe an Asperger level autistic - he does exhibit behavior quirks common to this group. IF anything Donald Trump has a learning disorder probably compounded by early onset Alzheimer. Again this suggestion is based of behavioral patterns.
Okay jump in, call me a liar and block me. That what how things run here, don't they?
Back in the day - the good old days - pregnant teenagers were not a problem. The second a young lady got knocked up a fellow teen, she was married off to a man who lost his wife in child birth or to an old guy in need of a care giver. Now tell me, please, how does that fit your model of perfect family life.
IF you want to know the reality of American life down through time, I suggest you dive head first into the US census data. What these ten year snapshots of American life display is really quite reveling. I was the family historian for several years. On top of the census data, I had access to family journals reaching back in time.
This family unit you describe in such glowing terms, only existed in B&W TV land shows like "Leave it to Beaver" and "Father Knows Best". Excuse me, it also exists in countless Trump promises to his base.
Don't go serious, Bunny. This is obviously a satirical comedy piece. The ME would not worry about blood on his hands. That is why hand sanitizers were invented.
ENTITLED is the key word here. The US abounds in people - men and women - who feel they are entitled to the good life. They stand in awe of the billionaire class, buy lottery tickets by the score and invest in expensive cars and phones. They do this knowing their time is coming. It doesn't help con artists like Donald Trump are there reinforcing these false hopes.
I was thinking to run for president in 2020. But it would require I have a frontal lobotomy done so I can be even stupider than Trump and thus appeal to his base. Oh and I will need to change my name to ME, to fit my campaign slogan - Me for President. I can almost hear the crowds yelling - ME, ME, ME.
You are correct - Hurricanes do span Tornadoes. The thing is tornadoes are a yearly event, particularly in the plains states and the level of damage incurred is small compared to a hurricane fueled by warm ocean waters. Then also it has been almost 10 years since the last hurricane hit Texas and it was only a category 2 storm. Resultantly the typical Texan reaction is - "Yawn, so what?"
The thing about your farmer supposition is a lot of these weapons consists of 9mm handguns and AK47s - neither of which is much good for shooting the occasional rabbit for dinner. No, these weapons are more about shooting people. No one carries a knife in the US anymore - knives are prohibited in social venues, but guns - per the second amendment - are cool.
The gun industry preys upon the paranoia of the people. The classic sales line is - IF you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. The suggestion being when everyone finally owns a gun, there will no more crime. Me, I envision a future when 6 year olds carry AKs into the classroom and dueling is legal once more. Counting the steps, a 6 year old and his 8 year old bully turn on the count of ten and fire. Think of it as way to reduce crowding in the schools.
Conrad, if you are saying the US is the land of irony, I couldn't agree more. There is a comma in the second amendment which may be an ink smear. Remove that comma/smear and the suddenly only trained militias like the state national guards are meant to bear arms. Then there is the weapons industry. They are hurting right now because the gun guys are currently not in panic to stock up.
