Yes desperation come off as someone who is insecure, low self esteem, not sure about themselves and what they want or who they are for sure for that matter. Not an attractive trait to have for sure! People who come accross desperate, I stay clear away from or any insecurities at all for that matter.
One thing you DONT want to do is look or act too desperate. Dont try to rush into anything. Just relax and enjoy your singles years before you are constantly later wondering how life used to be like before you signed your life away! You'll be wanting those years back! hahaha

When he mixes a drink for you and him and you switch them out of gut instint and an hour later he gets really sick and stays in bed for two days straight afterwards because no matter how much you try to get him to go see a DR for some weird reason he refuses to. Hmm... that would be freakn' scary now wouldn't it?
When I help others out in need. No matter how little or big the help is, when I see true thankfulness in their eyes, it makes it all worth it and makes me feel good about myself in return.
I would refuse to meet someone until after we chat using a web cam and video like on MSN or Skype or Sight Speed. That way you can see what they look and sound like live. Nothing is better then LIVE image.
Of course that cant prevent them from lieing still about how old they are or other things but it helps.
This might sound a little crazy or maybe you would never find the time to do this, but have you ever thought about going on a nature quest? Find a spot that is perfect out in nature for meditating and just have a tent and relax with just the calm wind and fresh air to help clear your mind with a small open fire?
Perfect environment to meditate and reach deep down inside yourself and perhaps figure out for sure what part of you really cares about this woman, or is it that you just dont want to hurt her feelings cause you know she's a good person but you just don't have that click? Or like others have said, is it because you already devoted yourself to one person already that you feel like you are betraying that person by allowing someone else be in your heart? These and whatever other thoughts that run through your mind might come to you easier and clearer through meditation even if you don't do the whole being in nature and camping thing by yourself.
You can even just be in a quiet room, light some incense, play some soft nature or classical music real softly to the point that you can barely hear it, and just take slow deep breaths and feel at one with your surroudings. This will also enable clearer and deeper thoughts without subcontiously blocking them.
If I sound crazy that's fine, I just thought it was worth considering is all. I know it helps me when I have hard decisions to make.
As interesting as it may be, (still just a coincidence though) I can only say that I feel sorry for the person who invested all that time putting something like this together!
