I know I'm not the only one here in this situation.
I have an elderly mother who can't get around so us kids (me, 2 sisters and brother) take turns taking care of her. My days are friday and saturday. She is showing signs of dementia and over the last couple of years, has become bitter and says mean things to people and never apologizes.
This week, my cousin who suffers from severe cerebal palsy, took a turn for the worst and there is nothing that can be done to save him. He's terminal. My aunt called the family to give us the sad news and we will have a large picnic for him on saturday.
Well, my mother told her sister it was her fault, that she was neglectful and ignorant and could have prevented my cousins suffering.
So, Those people who have elderly, senile parents:
How do you deal with this behavior? What do you say to family members about this?
