RE: What operating system is your computer running

It's normal for the idle process to be close to 99, it's the rest of them that count.

It could be also a problem with the fan on your laptop isn't kicking in properly to cool the laptop.

RE: What operating system is your computer running

With a laptop, when they say it has a Celeron, Pentium etc, they're talking about the CPU. This is what one of them looks like

RE: What operating system is your computer running

Ya, I'm a bit of a mad scientist - I've other machines and spare parts all over the house.

Not into macs, so don't know much about them.

As for windows 7, anything after XP can be a real hog unless you've got plenty of horsepower. XP originally came out when PC specs were generally quite modest, so it can be easy to run fast, whereas I've never seen vista run fast on any machine i've seen so far.

RE: What operating system is your computer running

My laptop, my 2 bedroom PCs and my home theatre PC all have XP Pro service pack 3, whereas I've XP Pro x64 edition on my gaming rig.

Vista's too sluggish to be usefull, and windows 7 is too new for me to put trust in it.

Stevie Ray Vaughan

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)

Yngwie Malmsteen

Exactly, so people don't buy the crap, and then the record companies make out it's cuz we're all involved in piracy, nothing to do with the rubbish they're peddling.

RE: METAL!!! EARS :)

All That Remains - "The Air That I Breathe"

RE: METAL!!! EARS :)

Metallica - Orion (live in Seoul)
