Back to the subject at hand....HERE IS THE REAL QUESTION!!!
20% of the nations population (The wealthy) are paying 63.5% of the nations federal taxes.
80% of the nations population (The middle and lower income classes) are paying 36.5% of the nations federal taxes.
This seems more than fair to the middle and lower income taxpayer(s) Granted, taxes, finance, etc... are complicated and this article. Perhaps I am missing something.
I do agree with the idea that the wealthy should contribute more but at the same time, I think they are already doing a lot more than a majorty of the nation is. At what point is it enough?
63.5 percent they are paying! At what point is it enough????
WE provide assistance all the time! Just look at all those little gas stations owned by foreigners....WHO DON'T HAVE TO PAY TAXES FOR FIVE YEARS...who then "sell" the business to a relative for another five years.....etc.
I hope people really don't think we put all Muslims in the same bucket because I truly do not think that way myself. This is an entirely different issue because of the current circumstances, in addition to all the other add things about Obama, such as his minister, his criminal/terrorist friend, his wife, etc... It's just very concerning that so many "Un-American" issues keep sticking to him and he's unable to effectively dispell any of them.
I agree, which is why I jumped back in when the subject went to taxes, etc. These to me are real issues.
But given the fact that we seem to be in the midst of a very difficult struggle with religious extremeists, it gives me very little comfort to read those words.
And to go waaaaaaay back on this thread, my concern about Obama is the fact that he has such a murky past and that he has been unable to dispell all the claims out there. His own book isn't helping him. I don't think I have "bashed" him in any way. I just question this and have grave concerns.
All I said was that it was scary, and I find it difficut to believe he's running for president. Is that so harsh? I did not bring up the subject, I just reponded to the post above me.
The jobs have been getting outsourced since LONG before Bush came into office. There are a lot of unhappy reasons for this. I fail to see how you can think that raising corporate taxes is going to help the situation.
The only thing not working here is your argument. Give us an answer, please!
Opal, it's not a nice idea, it's a fact. How many times do you see a notice from a company saying they are going to have to raise their prices because the gas is going up? When their costs increase, it gets pssed down to the consumer.
Once again, you did not address the subject, which you brought up to begin with. If Bush were to raise corporate taxes, it would only benefit the government and hurt the consumer.
That's the irony, Opal. I am far from rich. I'm a widow with two small children and no income at the moment. I sweat the car payments and the mortgages just like everybody else. So don't go off speaking for the world with these posts because some of them are just not representative of "The People," as you seem to think.
If anything, I sure as heck have paid for my right to voice my American opinion.
