Agree. And it's just very refreshing to see so much intelligent and wit along with compassion. I wonder why people aren't more like this in their everyday lives? Wouldn't that be great?
Exactly. We went for a second diagnosis, and it's a damn good thing we checked. The treatment they initially recommended would have definitely killed him. Makes me very angry to think that so many people's lives are negatively affected by such blatant callousness. It's inexcusable. Same with government. LOL!
LOL. Same here Muppet. I'm way rusty but have to start somewhere. In the meantime, I love the banter here. I find myself laughing outloud at some of the comments. Very witty and intelligent for the most part. Also, I like seeing the amazing support system. Very cool.
Sad fact...Fifty percent of all doctors graduate in the bottom half of their class. It is the one time I feel it's acceptable to be a snob! Find the best you can, or find two of the best. But please keep asking until you find the answer.
I know you didn't ask, but it's a subject close to my heart. It's worth it.
I've been dealing with some of this myself lately. Not disability, but life insurance, health insurance, pension plans, social security, etc. With the single exception of social security, every damn company I've dealt with has failed miserably. I have had to write and re-write, send certified mail, call, fax, re-fax, etc.... just to get them to honor THEIR commitments. It's frustrating as all get out - but I've won every battle so far.
DO NOT give up. Just create a good paper trail and follow their instructions... over and over and over again. Keep at it. If there is a legal precedence for your disability, you SHOULD be able to get it!
I don't know what your system is like, but I know here many people with seriously compelling needs have to apply and reapply at least three times. APPEAL!!!!
So he just ups and leaves you and the child without so much as a "Bye your leave" and you don't think that says it all? Anyone, man or woman, who has so little personal integrity, such BAD character, is not going to change for you. If he would do this, what else would he do? And the fact that he is "scared" of work? Ugh. How can you respect someone like this? And if you can't respect him, how can you possibly have a good marriage? You should be working as a team, setting goals, making it happen, not sitting around supporting him and his needs. And if that's not enough, consider this. What kind of example will he set for your son? Children learn by example, you know. Do you want your son to see this behavior and start down the same path? It's not all about you and him! In fact, your son NEEDS you to make the right choices here.
I have to agree with you. One look at the media and it's obvious to me. We have allowed it to to become so violent that kids see it as the norm. We have anesthesized them to violence.
I was at an outdoor event last March and struck up a conversation with a guy in a wheelchair. I have no clue what his disability was, but he was so charming and so handsome I've found myself thinking about him on several occasions and hoping to bump into him again this year. I think people are either TOTALLY able to look beyond disabilities, or not. Doesn't seem to be much middle ground. But I will add that it's more important to me how the person handles it. I, too, would want to know up front, but more because I would feel HE had an issue with it if he didn't tell me. Does that make sense?
So can I call YOUR mother at the first sign of crisis? LOL I know I'm not alone here, and that helps. But I'm still scared witless. They are such little angels now.....
Well it's true that getting caught can add all sorts for permanent damages to a stupid kid prank, so I can see that logic. Hope it never comes to that. I just wonder if there's something I could be doing to make it easier to communicate with them when they start growing horns and all! LOL
i know, Dizzy. That's why I'm scared. Now having to go it alone, too. My husband (their father) just passed away. Don't know how we will get through it without him!
