Been self-employed since the age of 26....paid a fortune in social welfare and pension fund stuff, and never taken a cent back....I wouldn't even know how to apply....I will never even recoup a fraction of what I've paid in as a pension....and in fact, under the system that I work in currently, being self-employed, I don't even QUALIFY for unemployment..!!!...how fair is that??....
I'm unemployed....not by choice. The last company I worked for downsized and I got the boot. And to make matters worse, I can't seem to get another job anywhere. I don't understand, I have sent my resume out more times than I can count, applied online for jobs that I have loads of experience doing, and all I get are offers to sell insurance or automobiles. My resume is professionally written...I paid dearly for it.. I'm not asking for a ton of money, but still no one calling for an interview. My self esteam is suffering here!!!! I'm getting desperate right now and am seriously considering flipping burgers so I can make enough money to buy milk and bread. Any sugggestions out there?

Since you ask, I would suggest temporary agencies. Many times you will find a permanent position that way.

I'm have been lucky enuff to have never had to claim for myself. I starting working at 13.. and thankfully have not been ill or laid off etc..
When my daughter had Perthes disease.. she received a certain amount of disability money for her at that time.. which helped with her wheelchairs and mobility etc. But that's it.

Thanks.....I am signed up at a couple of temp agencies and have beeen on a couple of assignments, but so far no offers of permanent job. Maybe I'm too ugly for their liking? Maybe it's my sweet disposition? Who knows.. My guess is that there's not that many companies who want a permanent employee, they would rather get temp workers so they don't have to offer benefits. I need health insurance....
