According to the bone marrow transplant team, the chemo leaves withing 24 hours - and that's after six days of MASSIVE doses. No. Still not seeing the logic. Why encourage lots of fruits, fruit drinks, and veggies, but discourage one fruit drink because it's deemed to have curative powers?
I think it's kind of refreshing. Also, is a bit easier on the nervous system to meet in a mutually "safe" spot before all the letter-writing and baring of the souls.
The TOXIC chemical, in this case, was only administered once a month and leaves the system within 24 hours. The remainder of the time your own blood does the work. No logic yet. Try again
One other thought is to contact your local vets.... Many times when people have to put their dogs down, it helps them to adopt one in need. It's a nice way to ease the pain and soothe the conscious. Plus, a vet referral is really helpful to some.
And just as another point of interest, I think this particular product is now in the process of getting FDA approval. I have no interest in it either way. It was shipped to us for free from someone who heard our situation and just wanted to do it. So I took the stuff instead!
I'm angry, but not because of that. I do find it very odd that their answer was a flat "No" when they didn't even know what the product was. Moreover, when my husband's counts were up, and he was able to eat fruits and veggies, they encouraged this wholeheartedly... but not a fruit drink with possible healing qualities. Not angry, just can't see the logic...
1) Contact your area horse farms and feed stores. Post a notice at the feed stores, too. People here are usually big-hearted animal lovers to begin with and often have the room for "one more."
2) If you want to keep the thread alive, consider renaming it to.... I'm a Republican
Ok... I will visit it and also ask my vet friend. In fact, will ask the people I would trust with my own dogs. You never know! But seriously, check the rescue sites that go by breed. You find more luck and more interest there sometimes. I know it's heartbreaking! Been there myself just recently.
Gee... It's too bad Bill Clinton didn't take Bin Laden when he was offered him on a plate and advised to do so. If Bin Laden hadn't masterminded 9/11, we wouldn't be in this situation to begin with.
Absolutely true! I have a girlfriend who is a vet who routinely mixes eastern and western medicines. She does not "overvaccinate" and will try acupuncture over drugs, etc. I can't say she is completely holistic, but I welcome her approach!
FYI AOL just posted an article on how the FDA is taking aim on supplements as phony cancer treatments. There's probably some truth to there being scams, etc., but there's just as much dishonesty from the pharma's and the FDA. Bottom line, it's YOUR body!
P.S. This is not to say it was a perfect system. Sports suck and offering scholarships to public school students hurts the public schools (but helps the kid). Also, there is an awful lot of pressure on the parents to contribute over and above the tuition to help fund the school. The whole "snob" factor is unappealing - but overall, the fact remains that these kids tend to not only survive high school, but also graduate and do better in adulthood.
If it will help my kids do better in life, I will find the money somewhere.
Of course there are bullies everywhere, but nowhere are they as prevalent as public high school. In the work environment, you don't see "employees" roaming the halls in packs and terrorizing everyone else. If they did, they would get fired.... So... If you really want to prepare kids for adulthood, teach these kids that if they act out, they lose their jobs! I absolutely agree with you that everyone should learn to be "streetwise," but teenagers haven't yet developed the skills or self-confidence to deal with these things. Education is what helps you develop those skills. Too many critical developmental things are happening during the teenage years. Tolerating outrageous behavior only perpetuates the problem.
But on the flip side, I think public schools do an EXCELLENT job in elementary education. There was a recent article in the New York Times reporting that the United States typically scores HIGHER than others in the elementary years. But by Middle School we fall well below all other countries. Something clearly is wrong and I think it's that we have tied their hands.
OK I can understand that kind of logic, but would just add one thing as food for thought... Don't you think that people who are "out of control," and who routinely disrupt the classroom are preventing the others from getting the most out of their education. And what about the bullies who wait for you after class to "kick your butt." I don't have to deal with them in real life... Not arguing, just would like to see the problem solved
Also interesting is how doctors and hospitals don't always approve. They INSISTED my husband not take Mona Vie during his illness because they "didn't know how it interacted with the chemo." Come on! It's a fruit drink! Of course, people on a neutropenic diet couldn't have it, but they could take it when they weren't neutropenic to help build up their WBC, etc. Makes no sense to me.
YEah. It's very sad. The worst thing is that in terms of national averages here in the US, we actually spend MORE money per child on public school education that the average private school tuition.
And we want to government to handle health care now??????
PS I've met a lot of kids who were homeschooled and found they were extremely well-rounded and intelligent. Really impressive, also. I just don't have the "fortitude" for the job!
I went to public school until 9th grade. Then my parents decided that the school system was failing and put me in private school. I hated it at first, but mainly because I never did like snobs (and there were plenty). But I have to admit they did me a favor. I think the biggest advantage private schools have is the ability to throw kids out when they are "trouble." Public schools don't have that option as a rule. Right now, my kids are in public school - elementary - and we are extremely impressed with it. But I will probably take them out during the teen years just to keep them alive....
I'm not sure if I read this whole post, so somebody might have addressed this, but did you contact a Sleep Disorder Clinic? HAve they monitored her in her sleep?
RE: Help - Dogs
Let's make this a goal for the evening...Get these pooches adopted!
