RE: Would anybody on this Site become a Nun or a Priest?

Not enough have gone to jail. I know growing up that is one of the people you could trust, but with todays day and age, not a good thing to do. very pathetic indeed

RE: Flood in Pakistan.

My thought would be,If I could help would they be My friend, If I denied them help would they continue to be My friend, Or would they be My friend only if I helped them, would they in turn return the favor if I needed the help, Would they give Me a handshake of friendship if I helped, Would they spit in My eyes if I said no, Would they consider the fact that we are all plain ordinary people on a website and have no control over what our governments do or say, do they realize sometimes when aid is given there is more sold on the black market then distributed among the people in need. the needy still go hungry where so much has been delivered.
blame those that keep the donations from reaching the ones who are in need, never blame or argue with the ordinary people who do the donating, have a problem with the system contact the ones in charge not the ordinary people who do call you friend,My question to the people whining and arguing, what have you donated besides whining and arguing? contact the countries government instead of insulting the people of the country who are doing the helping.

RE: Do we take CS forums too seriously?

I would say Cs should take charge of their website and maybe things would tone down in some of the threads, maybe boot the ones stirring up all the trouble, generally that is the married or involved ones that do not care if they connect or not, but seems they come in just to stir the pot, my question would be if i had some one already, why spend all my spare time on a singles site seeing what needs to be stirred, I like reading the forums but as far as dealing with the trolls, would be so much easier knowing that everyone you talk to is single and available rather then remembering who is single and who is a lurker, But i am only here for fun, and reading the threads that are informative because most trolls find those too boring to post on,JMHO, Best Wishes and Good Luck to everyone in their searchwave

Will you marry — oops! There goes $9,000 ring
When he popped the question, she dropped diamond heirloom into oblivion

A romantic engagement surprise turned into a moment of horror for a prospective Massachusetts bride Monday when, in her excitement, she fumbled a $9,000 diamond engagement ring — and watched it disappear down a rocky jetty below her.

Matt Cawley, a 31-year-old restaurateur from Deadham, Mass., was trying to make his proposal to 30-year-old schoolteacher Stacey Scanlon a memorable one. So he tied the family heirloom to an oversize sand dollar and placed it on the jetty at Bass River Beach in Yarmouth.

Cawley then took Scanlon for a stroll along the jetty, where he directed her attention to the sand dollar. “I had no idea whatsoever; we were just going on a morning walk,” Scanlon told TODAYshow.com.

When she saw the sand dollar, Scanlon said, “I went to pick it up and I heard something fall; I thought it was a rock. It was a rock! Just not exactly the rock I was expecting.”

Oregon girl not bitter after lemonade flap

PORTLAND, Ore. — After a county inspector squeezed out a kid's lemonade business, so many Oregonians puckered up in disgust that the county chairman had to pour on a little sugar.

The apology sweetened up some sour feelings and made 7-year-old Julie Murphy eligible to resume selling her Kool-Aid and water concoction for 50 cents a cup.

Last week at a local arts fair, Julie and her mother were surprised when a county inspector asked to see their restaurant license.

They didn't have one. The inspector told them they would face a fine of up to $500 if they didn't stop selling lemonade.

Other vendors urged Julie and her mother not to leave. A second inspector arrived and the two inspectors were surrounded by a crowd of vendors supporting Julie and her mother.

Ultimately, Julie and her mother packed up the stand, and as Julie left the fair she was crying.

But Julie has prevailed.

Pee-wee adventures to big bike rally in S. Dakota
Aug. 10, 2010, 5:03 AM EST

STURGIS, S.D. (AP) -- Mean machines and burly bikers didn't draw Amanda White to the world's largest motorcycle rally. She had her sights set on a bow-tied nerd in an ill-fitting gray plaid suit: Pee-wee Herman.

Actor Paul Reubens is reintroducing Pee-wee, his alter ego and 1980s cult character, to fans at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, which is expected to draw more than 500,000 people this week.

RE: The official "Bash the USA" thread.

Barack H. Obama is the 44th President of the United States.

His story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others.

With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.

After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, President Obama moved to Chicago, where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants.

He went on to attend law school, where he became the first African—American president of the Harvard Law Review. Upon graduation, he returned to Chicago to help lead a voter registration drive, teach constitutional law at the University of Chicago, and remain active in his community.

President Obama's years of public service are based around his unwavering belief in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose. In the Illinois State Senate, he passed the first major ethics reform in 25 years, cut taxes for working families, and expanded health care for children and their parents. As a United States Senator, he reached across the aisle to pass groundbreaking lobbying reform, lock up the world's most dangerous weapons, and bring transparency to government by putting federal spending online.

He was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4, 2008, and sworn in on January 20, 2009. He and his wife, Michelle, are the proud parents of two daughters, Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9.
