it reminds me of the 1974 brisbane floods when I was a kid.. I was saying to my brother that this is bringing back a lot of bad memories .. we were in the same situation as you.. our house didnt go under but we were cut off from everything .. so ran out of lots of supplies cos we had water on all sides so now one could get in or out.. I had friends who were not as lucky and who lost everything cos there houses went under

and I clearly remember the stench for weeks and weeks afterwards ... makes me wanna puke even now just thinking about it

Hi T.. just got off the phone to him .. he is ok and his kids are ok.. THANK GOD!!! he told me he had dropped his youngest kid off at his mothers place and was on his way to work and he literally saw the water starting to rise.. saw some guy 50 metres away trying to get across the road and the water was up to this guys headlights on his car and the guy just got across when the waters started rushing past

the water was about 6 inches deep where my brother was in his car so he decided to go home instead of going to work.. in the 10 mins it took him to drive home, the waters rose to the point of the images we saw on TV with the cars rushing past at 70km an hr in the raging waters .. that is amazingly fast flash flooding .. so bloody scary

I have been watching the tv footage.. those poor poor people .. imagine being a parent of kids in the lockyer valley where it is really bad.. houses under water up to their roofs with people sitting on them..some of those people can not even be gotten to by rescue workers

personally its not a gender issue for me... there are also things people should do for people in general.. I dont think its about being male or female .. it is about being considerate for another human being.. male or female.. if someone has had an op and they need a bed to sleep in then .. the person who doesnt NEED it could let the person who does NEED it have it .. its not like its a long term thing cos then t h a t would be different I dont sleep well in other beds so I don't think I would like to give up my bed long term
