Hope you guys are all holding up, and safe!!!! they said on the radio here that the river was expected to peak tonight hug

I had a good laugh at the pic, I always remember when I was a kid and one of my friends (who shall remain nameless) put a net across the main street, and netted stuff as it came floating out of the grocery store rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing apparently they got quite a good haul as items floated down.

those were the days rolling on the floor laughing

I was in Bundaberg for 5 months and came back to Sydney late October. A good thing too with all the flooding. Where I was staying (the northside) got totally cut off from the rest of town. I still have friends there that have had to suffer through it though. I know someone who went to a shopping centre there and parked in the underground car park to do some shopping. Came back to a car totally underwater as well as a workmates car. Now has to do a 3km walk to the other shopping centre twice a day to get to work.
It's pretty sad.

Thats terrible, I hope that they were insured. Certainly seems like the shopping centre should have been calling for shoppers to move their cars, if the management could see it was starting to going under!!!

Insured yes. Insured for flood damage? Not sure. Let's hope so.

From what I was told the flood waters rose so quick that there just wasn't time. Was just one of those things sadly.

So true there Cusp! There are still a lot of dry areas that could do with a extra drink.
That would definately make a difference to the flood waters lowering.confused

You are so right Cusp, as a Queenslander who watched the whole TravestyTraveston Dam Debarcle, we are now the proud owners of a several million dollar wall that starts nowhere, leads nowhere and does nothing... frustrated

And people are still being flooded. Perhaps the money would have been better used to sort out the water problems in each town area, to improve the drainage, and road run off, to consider proper town planning and the need when clearing huge amounts of land and laying bitumen carparks, the water has to go somewhere and if the drains werent sufficient before they wont be now.
