Juxtaposition

Resting side-by-side,
our minds slip gently
into perfect juxtaposition.
Our desire and imagination
bestow upon our eyes
visions of wonder
amid the moonlight hours.
We surf on the swells
of soft cotton clouds,
sending ripples through the cosmos
as we swim among the stars.

Internal Crisis

My mind races with thoughts of you, but I cannot grab hold long enough to enjoy them. It tries to convey to you a message, with little success.

My body reacts to your every touch, uncertain of its own intent. It pulls you in for a reason I cannot fathom.

My heart speaks louder with every step I take in your direction, but its words are seldom clear. It reaches out to you with an indistinct desire.

Stella

You are the light that has kept
the shadows away while I slept,
and shone with a comforting, soft
glow that kept my hope aloft.
Now, I keep you alive, while my heart
is consumed by my fear of the dark--
the gloom that will surely show
its face as soon as you go.

The Rose In the Ivy

In a forest filled with wretched brier,
not one bud escapes its ire--
the gnarled roots and creeping vines
pierce all beauty with its fearsome spines.
But deep within, a flower lies,
hidden by bramble from all the world's eyes.
She stands up tall. She stands alone.
Standing strong, but still unknown.
One night, the flower hears a sound--
heavy footsteps upon the ground.
Out from the darkness appears a man
with clippers, shovel, and watering can.
For countless hours he continues to toil,
removing the flower from the soil.
She wonders what the man intends
to do with her, and to what ends.
He carries her past countless trees,
and in the distance she soon sees
a humble home with a soft, warm glow
coming from a single window.
The man sets the flower in a hole sized just right,
gives her some water, and retires for the night.
The very next day, when the sun starts to rise,
the man reappears with a look in his eyes.
A look of compassion and spirit so pure,
she knows that their love will forever endure.

Companion

I can't make the thoughts go away,
but I can give you time.
If there's anything you need,
I'll always oblige.
We can spend some time apart
or sit side-by-side.
I can't make you love yourself,
but I can give you mine.

Great Divide

What of the world could I give to you
that your beauty would not transcend,
since with your radiant crystal eyes
nothing can contend?
The sleepless nights I viewed as plague
are now a treasure I possess.
For my dreams depict what my heart does crave,
and are brought to life by your caress.
I always dreaded living life
without someone to touch my soul,
but with you standing by my side,
I finally feel I am whole.
The distance between us is only marked
by the hands that dictate time,
and as each fleeting moment passes,
I wish only to call you mine.
Let's interlace our fingers
and cross the great divide.
I want the next step of my journey
to be with you by my side.

Experience Life

Why smile at the sun as it brings forth the dawn?
Why count the stars that light up the night?
Why join the birds in their beautiful song?
Why ask the fox what secrets it hides?

Why point out shapes in the clouds high above?
Why dance to the rhythm of the falling rain?
Why be a dreamer before the day is done?
...Why not?

Blazing Hearts

While gazing into each other's eyes,
I run my hand the length of your body,
from your neck to your thighs
and back again.
You quickly lick my lips,
playing with my desire.
We share a passionate kiss,
and the feeling lifts me higher.
Our mutual love sparks
a flame in our hearts
as we enter into the rhythm of life.

Torch In the Blizzard

Love hasn't found its way to her yet
How can it?
Her heart has locked itself away
From the world
A world it views
Through the scars that won't heal
The wounds that still bleed
The tears she still cries...

In a world so cold
A heart worn on the sleeve
Exposes itself to the icy gusts
Left in the wake of those who walk past
Without a glance
In its direction
Perhaps this is why
She hides her heart from me...

Have I been too blind
To see the world for what it is?
Should I follow her example
And hide my heart as well?
How, then, will she hear
The kindred heart cry out to her?
How will she see
My torch in the blizzard?

Chaotic Mind

One step at a time.
I repeat these words
to myself in my mind.
Yet, the steps I take
leave a mess in their wake.
No way to contain
my disdain
toward the choices I make.
Impulsive actions
rarely leave time
for consideration.
I've taken
medication
day after day
to help me control
what I do and do not say.
Focus is no longer an issue,
but before the 'I told you so's continue,
let me tell you
this one thing:
what I need is concentration,
not reconfiguration.

Sensual Transcendence

Running my fingers through your hair,
I nibble on your ear.
Your heart pounds through the breast
I gently caress.
Your chest
starts heaving
as I'm breathing
warm whispers down your neck.
You quiver,
not from trepidation,
but anticipation
of a transcendent sensation.
I look deep into your eyes
and gently stroke your thighs.
As I lay a kiss
upon your lips,
I feel your body rise.

Polarized Wealth

Manipulating people's minds,
contemplating this despised
profiteering.
Engineering
people to believe the lies

that flood their vision everyday,
telling them that they should stay
within the lines
the rich define.
But I refuse to live this way.

I won't bow down to paper bills,
which only wealthy pockets fill.
'Cause I'm afraid,
while they get paid,
the rest of us get poorer still.
