Soulmate

Come and sit right down
in this space beside me.
Lay your head upon my shoulder
and let me help you see
that what you need to live this life
cannot be bought or sold,
but comes with finding someone
to love until you're old.

Progress

I've been floating in my own gloom
for much too long--
drifting along with the tides of my mind
with no heading,
always dreading what will soon become of my life
if I don't change.
It's so strange how one thought could lift my gaze
up from the ground
to look around at this beautiful world
that I live in.
I have forgiven myself for everything I've let slip
through my fingers.
All that lingers in my mind is hope
others will too.
I must do what is best for myself,
or no one will.

Let Yourself Love

What must it take
for people to recognize
how easy it is to love?
It doesn't take much
to reach out and touch
the lives and hearts of others.
Yet, so many of us build walls around
our own hearts to keep us safe and sound.
But they keep us bound,
unable to live,
unable to give
the one thing that grows
the more it's shared,
the one thing that shows
you truly care...
love.

Willow

The evening sun sets the sky ablaze. It peeks between the trees and speckles the ground with shifting patches of orange light. The forest ebbs and flows with the swaying of the trees.

Bluejay swims in with a cool gust, searching for a place to rest for the night. He comes to a clearing with a shimmering lake, where silver fish soar among the stars that wink at their reflection in the sky.

On the far side of the lake stands the lonely Willow. Her verdant hair dances in the breeze and beckons to Bluejay. He happily flits down to perch on one of her twisted branches. The moon smiles upon them, and provides a gentle, comforting glow as they drift off into sweet slumber together.

Hopes and Dreams

He sees a smiling face
in his dreams at night.
He wakes and wonders,
"Why can't that be my life?"

He wants to show someone
an accomplishment
to justify life,
but can't find an instance.

He thought he had a dream,
but now he's not sure.
Losing sight of hope,
his life becomes a blur.

A Tear For A Tulip

A thousand tears I shed
To water the seeds
I've planted
Pulling out weeds
With broken fingers
The pain inside still lingers

At last
Spring is here
Much time has passed
Since I last shed a tear
It's amazing how much power
You get from finding a single flower

Caged

I've locked myself away
where no one else can see
the hell I go through everyday
that's slowly killing me.

It's been so long since I
have seen the light of day,
that I don't know if I will die
or keep wasting away.

Since I've had many nights
to think about my strife,
I have found that the strength to fight
was with me my whole life.

Keeping this thought in mind,
I force myself to try
to stand on my own feet and find
that I'm able to fly.

Stood Up

Lonely heart.
Passing glance.
Sudden spark.
Nervous smile.
Stuttered speech.
First attempt.
Lucky break.

Later date.
Pouring rain.
Waited hours.
Still alone.
Giving up.
Walking home.
Broken heart.

The Island

Everyday I search this deserted island
in hopes that I find another person
to share this lonely existence with,
but all I end up with is the same endless solitude.

Sometimes I have visions in my sleep
of the one who will find me
and free me from my isolation,
and it's these visions that help me carry on.

Though I dream of the day I find the one,
this dream is but a castle in the sand
being slowly worn away by the rising tides,
yet I continue to build upon its feeble foundation.

Three Little Words

I would walk until the end of time,

looking for some sort of sign
of the desire to be the part
valued most by my beating heart
Everyday I try to unwind,

yet I can't forget what is on my mind
One more day I'll persevere,
unless I somehow find you here.

All or Nothing

Would the wind still whistle away
If never there were trees?
Would the trees know when to sway
If never there was a breeze?
Would the birds still sing a tune
If never there was a morn?
Would the sun still chase the moon
If never birds were born?
Would there still be love to feel
If never hearts did melt?
Would we have a heart to heal
If never love was felt?

Extacy

Her hair cascading
Down her face,
I look into her eyes:
An ocean glimmering
In the sun's rays
Beneath clear blue skies.
Our hands intertwined.
On the grass we lay,
Not a word to say--
We were but one mind.
