Shenandoah

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Oh Shenandoah, I hear you calling
all along, the Missisipi
roll along, you just keep rolling on
as I look, upon you

And all before, who ever came here
think back in time, a soldier's daughter
a Civil war, and cannons sounding
all across, this wide Missouri

I feel the song, just lifts me higher
take me on, that lonely river
where dreams, and lives of others
move along, in time and song

I love to think, of Shendandoah
a homeland free, before the guns came
wooded plains, and pastures giving
life and peace, but for a while

Time rolls on, just like the river
stand and look, as others once did
on this, so mighty river
roll along, yes roll along
you wide, so wide Missouri.

The Last Supper

I see a man
who stands among us
at that last supper
disciples were
one would betray him
one would deny him
as at supper
they took their place

Take this bread
it is my body
which will
be broken
Just for you

Take the wine
it is My blood
which will be
poured out
Just for you

See a story
of a mission
Rescue people
far and wide
life for life
exchange, was given
look to him
and you will live

When Life is Hard

When life is hard
and the road is long
and weariness comes in
blue monday mornings
or hum drum days
may it be we could
offer up a prayer
after all there is
somebody there.

Say a prayer
let heaven know
all the things
that touch you below.

You may see
you may find
that you were
on his mind.

to share a line from a song, if i may: i still believe in god, but god no longer believes in me. it's a slippery edge, serpico, knowing and thinking and believing. but it's a beautiful write, nonetheless, as usual.

I sometimes wonder how we do cope in those times when life throws so many curved balls at once...faith and hope helps, and belief in oneself, though sometimes it's hard...I often think of those miners who walked from Wales to the NE of England, then down to London....they never gave up...some came to NZ....The promised land....Niah cool bouquet

yes niah, its just lifes cycle, man was born for trouble as the sparks flyupwards, as it says in the bible book of job...but maybe all our lifes learning and inner hope and faith do help us, i like to think so...trials also make people, not easy though..thanks niah ...

Hold Back Time

WHEN YOU FIND A RARE LOVE
SPECIAL AND TRUE
THAT SEEMS TO KEEP
AND ENTHRALL YOU

HOW DO YOU KEEP
HOW DO YOU HOLD
WHISPERS AND BUTTERFLIES
CLOSE TO YOUR SIDE

PERFUME AND AFTER SHAVE
BLEND INTO ONE
LOVE ON A BEACH
BASK IN THE SUN

HOLD BACK TOMORROW
WITH DREAMS OF TODAY
HOLD BACK THE CURTAIN
THAT ENDS THE PLAY

INHALE THE DAY
INHALE THE MEMORY
BREATHE IT IN DEEPLY
REFRESH YOUR SWEET SOUL

HOW TO HOLD TIME
WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY
HOW TO GO ON
TIME MARCHES ON

SWEET IS THE IMAGE
ADORNED WITH BEAUTY
HOLD HER CLOSELY
THIS MOMENT MAY PASS

japan

How sad it is
when you see
japan and its people
living in ruins
after that tidal wave

Rubble and ruin
sea and pollution
people still
in need of much help

Prayers are offered
sadness touches
feeling just feeling
for people out there

Its one flash point of
so many today
in a world uneasy
in so many ways

So I send out a prayer
maybe others somewhere
will reach out
as I know they will
to people in much need

Thinking it Through

Rushing and hurry
busy and scurry
to quick to comment
just like a torrent
words can undo us
unless we can stop

Thoughtfully ponder
the wild blue yonder
as issues, and problems
stand in your way,
what to say?

Ponder it slowly,
reason it through
Then invite knowledge
wisdom to counsel
pros and the cons
bring them to view.

Choosing our words
deciding the course
applying the action
as wise as one can.

Rowboat

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Wrap her in wishes
clothe her in sunlight
build her a rowboat
so she can dream

Leaving the shore of
human existence
into her voyage
across to the isle

There is an island
peace does inhabit
only the birds
call there each day

Water your feet in
the waves of the morning
clouds passing over
look down on you

Lord of Creation

Lord of creation
heavens above
earth and the sea
and unfailing love

lord of the mountains
the valleys below
upon the earth
we people do go

lord so mysterious
yet known unto man
ever since Eden
when the garden began

lord of our moments
teach us to see
something of love
that flows as the sea
