AN ERA

take my hand
come back in time
to jazz to blues
soul singers rhymes

take my hand
to brilliant artists
pointillism watercolors
picasso, monet, gauguin

take my hand
drink with me in smokey bars
take in louis, etta, bessie
drive with me to paris
pack up our vintage flint car

take my hand
sit at a bistro
dine on baguettes, cheese and wine
an era when life was so fine

take my hand
and bring me back
kiss me in the rain
no need for fortune or fame

take my hand
let me hear hemmingway, fitzgerald read
hold me close and take me back
to a place in time
where love was true
and laughter was devine

THE HOUSE

I dreamed of a house where the floor boards creak
the door and the frame dont quite meet
The windows held open with leather bound books
forgotten treasures hidden in crannies and nooks

I dreamed of a house where porch chairs sit
silverware drawers that never did fit
An attic filled with dust and proof of time passed
and photos hanging so the smiles can last

I dreamed of a house with a shabby looking fence
living room walls with knicks and dents
Heights marked with colors in a narrowed hallway
backyard toys left where children once played

For you see to live in this house so rundown
some might cringe others might frown
But for me it shows my house of life
many years spent of love and strife

I wouldnt trade this house for all worlds gold
laughter and romance stories still to be told
Ive grown old with this house its sturdy and strong
and its grown old with me for just as long

SIMPLE THINGS

we should dance below the full moon
softly humming a 30's tune
feel dewy grass between our toes
wish upon stars for our friends and foes
take time to smell the flowers
forget days don't have enough hours
open our windows breathe in the air
walk in the raindrops without a care
kiss the one you love with meaning
embrace yellow sun rays beaming
write music put your soul into words
close your eyes listen for chirping birds
play in the leaves hide behind trees
remember those gone are with you in the breeze
happiness comes with simple things
not money, not cars, not diamond rings

About this poem:
its all about the simple things in life...we take them for granted too much too often:( i dont think its our fault, we just get caught up in the craziness of it all.

LOVE

sorry i disappeared
enabling what you feared

but don't worry baby
i still love you... maybe?

i took a left turn
and watched your heart burn

in the middle of nowhere
oh my sweet girl for you i care
i lost my connection completely

hiding you in shadows.. kiss me discreetly

i'm going for a walk
i'll be right back

i love you so much
but still her scent lingers
i kiss your face
her taste on your fingers

i scream and i yell
what do you have to tell?
you fight every word
my battle unheard

i know you kiss her
and i know you miss her

but my heart aches
and my heart breaks

what do i do
when the one i love fakes?

FEEL

I hear you weep so far from here I taste your tears like you're next to me
You and me in my delicious memories
Without them we equal nothing
And all I can see is the place I wanna be
Timeless my life was so free
Leaves at my feet, blown to the ground
Their echoes are reaching my ears
Nights coming fast, suns going down, confused
I don't know the answers but neither do you
I want to love you in the ordinary way
Because your ordinary is extraordinary
I used to dream in fairytale color but now all black and white
Kiss my lips, pull me close and bring my heart to life
