Mirror

Mirror of my heart
Mirror of my soul
Two beings born apart
Yet now one loving whole.
Never truly knowing
Where do you start,
where do I begin?
In this mating of two hearts.
Are you just my love
mirrored back at me?
Are you just a dream,
a midnight fantasy?
With a simple touch
or even just your smile
You create a loving warmth
That makes is all worthwhile.
Mirror of my soul
Mirror of my heart
I hope we end life's journey
Together, heart to heart.

About this poem:
This poem was written for my "mirror" or twin soul/flame. Not very good rhyming, but something I needed to say.

Creatures of the Fire

We swan-dive into the volcano, burning;
We’re creatures of the fire,
Mingled male and female, yearning
For the heat, the sweet explosion of desire.
I splash into the pleasure, all consuming;
I’m joyfully insane,
My passion for you deep, and fully blooming;
Long after, sweet warm flickers still remain.
You make my body sizzle with your kisses,
And yet there’s so much more;
My heart is kindled, too; It knows what bliss is,
This closeness that I’ve never felt before.
My body and my heart belong to you;
I’m peaceful and complete.
I see more adventures coming for we two,
We creatures of the tender fire and heat.

How do I

How do I
Know what to say
When you look at me
In that special way?
How do I know
Where to draw the line
When you breach my defences
Every time?
How do I know
What not to do
When you smile and say
"But I don't love you"?
How do I know
When it's time to go
And not look back
When I love you so?
How do I
Stop loving you
Needing you
Missing you?
How do I?
Do I?
I ....

Two Teenagers

Today I sat and read
All those words we wrote before
And I came to realize
It was a mirage
And not a door.

Where did I go wrong?
What was it I saw?
Was it just the past
I saw through the eyes
Of that teenage girl in love?

Then I read the words
You sent to me the last
And I feel a chill
When even the mirage
Splinters like a glass.

As I say goodbye
To that boy and girl that was
I wipe away a silent tear
And wish you
Happiness and love.

About this poem:
A few years ago I ran into my first love. We started talking about getting back together, but it didn't quite work out, as I had still not recovered from my broken heart after my marriage broke up. The sad part is that I wish we had left those two teenagers in the past, where they belong. Because now even the sweet memories from all those years ago, are haunted by what happened after. He will always be my first love, though. (MAV)

Jigsaw

Thinking
Remembering
Placing all the
Past
Into one moment
Present
Compressing
Love
To fit a small
Complicated
Jigsaw.
Will love explode?
Will this
Jigsaw ever be
Completed?

So over you

At breakneck speed I fell into you
I never thought it over,
never thought it through.

I fell deep into the abyss of your eyes
Black as weathered coal
Black as your soul.

Then with the speed of light
It was all over and done
Leaving me the lonely one.

While you continue your silly games
But I am still going strong
I still dance to my own song.

You thought you would break me
But I proved you wrong
While you sound like an old country song.

Just for a moment

Just for a moment there
I caught a glimpse
Of the way things could be

Just for a second there
I saw a light
And it was in your eyes

Just for a minute there
I could believe
In the way I want things to be

Now you've turned away
For reasons unknown
And just for a moment
I shed a tear
For what could have been

Dreams

Last night I dreamt I saw your face...
The face of a million dreams still to be dreamt,
A million dreams still to come true.
A million things still to say and do.
Then I awoke...
The dream has gone.
Now I wonder and wait...
Because dreams do come true,
Sometimes
