Your Guardian Angel

Through the mist, you came to me
With broken heart and tearful breast
I offered my hand and you accepted
I felt your pain and took it from you

With a gentle kiss you entered my outstretched wings
That I may keep you from harm and hurt
Your naked body is warm against mine
As you are wrapped in radiating wings

With glowing mist and angels choir we descend
A swirling embrace, a dance of light
Descending ever downward to earth
Pulled inexorably towards our destiny

Naked feet on a carpet of grass
We touch each others soul
Angel's wings lay at our feet
I gladly sacrifice eternity for one lifetime with you.

Knights of old

I stand before you as a knight of old
My suit of iron glistening in the sun
A hero from the days of yore
A quixotic echo of days long past

Yet underneath lies a man of broken dreams
A man out of step with modern times
No need for chivalrous ideals
No maidens left to save, nor even windmills to fight

Stripped bare and naked, reveals the man
No trusty steed or ancient sword
Just a man with faded dreams
One last adventure sought

If you should meet him, please be kind
He's just a man who's out of time

Pillow Talk

Come lay with me awhile
Tell me all your secrets
Talk of your hopes and desires
Speak to me of your past

Move closer and feel my warmth
Let my arms protect you
As your skin touches mine
Know that I love you

Tell me your dreams
That I may grant them
Tell me your fears
That I may dispell them

From sunset until dawn
Let me know all of you
The night belongs to us
When you lay with me awhile

The Photograph.

Sometimes, when I'm alone, I put your photograph up on the screen. I gently stroke your hair with the cursor as if it were my own hand. I run my middle finger softly across your forehead and sweep the hair from out of your eyes.

You almost appear to smile, a playful yet vulnerable smile. I run my finger around your ear, gently placing your hair behind it. You seem to slowly tilt your head towards my hand in a childlike pose. I find myself twisting your hair around my finger, making small ringlets that seem to sway in the breeze.

I run the back of my index finger across your soft cheek and wipe away that single tear. Again your head tilts towards me. I place my finger to your lips and you kiss it so softly that I barely notice it. The back of my hand gently brushes down your neck. You throw your head back and abandon yourself to me.

The Man That is Me

You say that you want to know me
But do you really care?
You want me to open to you
My very soul laid bare

You say that you want me
But still have your fears
Where were you when
I shed all of my tears

You say that you need me
But when the time comes
You'll dance to the tune
Of someone else's drums

You say that you love me
But how can it be?
You love only my essence
Not the man that is me

About this poem:
This poem was written after someone I met online declared their undying love for me . . . even though we'd never met! (maybe I'm just getting cynical in my old age? LOL )

Somewhere out there . . .

Your smile makes me smile too
The time I spend with you is precious
We laugh together
We cry together

You are my friend and I am yours
We were meant to be together
It was always meant to be this way
And I wouldn't have it any other way

I love to hold you close and make you feel safe
I love to feel your heart next to mine
I love to kiss those tender lips
I love to love you late at night

You and I will grow old together
And remember our younger days
You are the one that makes me happy
I want it to always be this way

I just wish I could meet you
I know you are out there, somewhere
I don't know your name
But I will know you when we meet

Do you dream of me too . . . . . ?
The way I dream of you?

The Broken Man

He once stood here, tall and proud
Master of all that he surveyed
In defiance his beliefs unbowed
And in defeat his dignity displayed

He lived, he loved on borrowed time
The hand of fate would play it's card
With sentence passed on love's great crime
He looks at life with no regard

The time has passed and redemption sought
His dreams are dust and hope subsides
For all his efforts have yielded naught
And into obscurity he slowly slides

He fought and lost in life's great plan
He stands before you, the broken man

Let Yourself be Beautiful

Radiate and blind me with your soul
Make me weep in your presence
I see what others cannot
Always let yourself be beautiful

Tell me your secrets
Touch my aching flesh
Let me protect you from fear
And let yourself be beautiful

It's yours to give
Let no man wrench it from you
For they are not worthy of you
Pass them by and let yourself be beautiful

I, Protector

Stand to left of me and I will fight your foes.
Stand behind me and I will take the blows.
Stand to the right of me and I will fight your fears.
Stand in front of me and I will wipe your tears.

I will protect you from all things but one.
I cannot protect you from yourself, my son.

My Beautiful Indian Princess

He seldom dreams but she came to him
Her heart was warm and seeking love
He saw the sadness beneath her eyes
And with words he wiped her tears

They loved and laughed from worlds apart
A love so deep and yet so brief
Yet he knew their worlds could never meet

The dreamer awakes from visions seen
Because he dared to dream the foolish dream

About this poem:
I must confess, I once fell in love online (I know, I'm old enough to know better! : ) I called her my 'Indian Princess' because she was from India. It was a brief but intense relationship that we both knew would never become reality. (The distance and cultural barriers made it impossible!) . . . I guess that how love works sometimes.

An Unspoken Love

Untouched and unspoken is cast
Through our pain our spirits rise
To seek out the hearts desires
And to protect each from the past

The seed once planted, continues to grow
And embraces each new dawn
with softness and warmth
Untouched and unspoken no more

One man's story.

He sits there. Waiting. His heart yearning for her to come. She rarely does. He know she is with another, laughing, touching.

He lights another cigarette. He remembers being here before, loving someone who loved another. Why is he putting himself through this again he wonders to himself.

The sound of the noisy city outside brings no relief from his loneliness. He reaches for the phone again. Again the line is busy. Busy with her happiness, a happiness he himself is denied. The cigarette ash falls to the floor, unnoticed. Sitting back in the armchair, he looks around the dimly lit room and remembers the happy times. A time when she loved only him.

He walks across the smoke filled room and turns off the small desk-top lamp. The room is in darkness but for the patchwork of shadows cast by the light from the brightly lit city. He puts the glass to his lips and finishes the drink that he had found to be a good friend. Without a sound he leaves the room, closing the door behind him.

A phone rings in an empty room, next to it sits an empty glass. No one answers it.

EPILOGUE : He had said he would always be there for her. He now realised she had taken him for a fool and she would always pursue her own pleasures regardless of the the damage she left in her wake. The house still lies empty and locked, a monument to his foolish belief that she had once loved him.
