Troika - by Sky (for Christmas!)

snowman christmas happy christmas cool dancing dog elephant danceline party

I bet nobody on here will remember the classical/progressive rock group "Sky". I was a huge fan of theirs when I was at High School. Me and a group of friends went to see them at The Albert Hall, and also The Dominian Theatre in London. I haven't heard this track for about 20 years! laugh

It is their version of Prokofiev's "Troika"

Here's what Wikipedia has to say: Sky was a UK-based instrumental group that specialised in fusing a variety of musical styles including light rock, classical and jazz. The group's best known members were classical guitarist John Williams and bass player Herbie Flowers (a former member of Blue Mink and T.Rex who was also a renowned session musician responsible for, amongst other music, the celebrated doubled bass line on Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side" and the novelty hit single "Grandad").

The band was made up of John Williams (the famous classical guitarist), Kevin Peek (electric guitar), Steve Gray (piano and sax), Tristan Fry (drums) and my favourite, Herbie Flowers (bass, tuba ....and a lot of comedy!)

They covered a lot of the famous classical pieces in their own very unique style inc Bach, Vivaldi, Saint-Saens, Mozart, Handel and Wagner, but they also did a lot of their own pieces, which were fantastic.

confused Think I need to go up and rummage around in the loft for my old Sky cassettes! applause applause applause
