Ghosts appear and fade away...
Singer & songwriter Colin Hay was the front man of the Australian rock group Men At Work, who made international fame for their 1981 hit song "Down Under"
Over the years, the band broke up and reformed with different members a few times, but Colin, the founding member of the group remained the only original member of the group.
Through the magic of YouTube, I followed bits and pieces of his career and see that although he's got a fantastic (and distinct) voice he's become much of a has-been, staying busy doing low-key small venues of solo work and a few guest appearances here and there.
I recently found one of this appearances in which the audience had a major contribution providing vocal accompaniment. I closed my eyes and swelled with the aura he created on stage and think... was it wrong management that stunted the longevity of his success? I don't have the answer for that, but I did enjoy the song...

Bill Withers, the singer-songwriter whose soulful hits "Lean On Me," Ain't No Sunshine" and "Lovely Day" became part of the soundtrack for a generation, has died.
He was 81.
Withers died Monday in Los Angeles of heart complications, according to his family.
"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father. A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other," his family said in a statement obtained by CNN. "As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world. In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones."
His songs have been considered timeless and "Lean On Me" has experienced a resurgence during the coronavirus pandemic because of its uplifting message of community support.
"Bill Withers is the closest thing black people have to a Bruce Springsteen," musician Quest Love told Rolling Stone in 2015.
Withers passing was mourned Friday across musical genres and walks of life on Twitter.
"Rest in power Bill Withers. Your voice, songs, and total expression gave us love, hope, and strength," rocker Lenny Kravitz tweeted. "My soul always has & always will be full of your music. Your humility displayed & depth of your power as you carried us all to a better place. You're still & always will be Bill."
Born in Slab Fork, West Virginia, Withers overcame a stutter as a child and joined the Navy as a teen.
After a nine year stint in the military, Withers moved to Los Angeles in 1967 to pursue a career in music, taking a job at the Boeing aircraft company where he made toilet seats during the day.
At night Withers cut demos and eventually met the head of Sussex Records, the now famed music impresario Clarence Avant.
Wither's first album, "Just As I Am," was released in 1971 and included the singles "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Grandma's Hands."
"Ain't No Sunshine" was a hit and in 1972 Withers took home a Grammy for the single.
That same year, "Lean On Me," a song Withers wrote after being inspired by his childhood growing up in West Virginia, went to No. 1 on the R&B chart.
The hit has since been covered by several other artists, including Club Nouveau. Their version won Withers a Grammy in 1987 as the songwriter.
The song is also the theme for the 1989 Morgan Freeman film of the same name and was performed at the inaugurations for both President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama.
His 1972 album, "Still Bill," launched another hit with "Use Me."
A legal battle with Sussex led to him signing with Columbia Records where he recorded "Lovely Day" as part of the 1977 album, "Menagerie." Withers co-wrote the 1980 hit "Just The Two of Us," which he recorded with saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. The tune won him his second best R&B song Grammy in 1981.
Withers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
His songwriting ability was as hailed as his singing.

J-METAL... Those are guys, really!
I'm on a YouTube journey this afternoon surfing some old bookmarks of Japanese musical groups. The style is Hard Rock Baroque inspired melodies set to (high-speed) shredding guitar licks aka J-METAL. Not your average boy-band!
This first selection is with the band JUPITER.
On lead guitar is Hizaki. He's the one in full costume that looks like he is on the way to a 17th century ball. His former band VERSAILLES, had 2nd guitarist Teru a few different members, but the same costumes and music. I'm not sure if the bassist is a woman, that would require some research. In both VERSAILLES and JUPITER Hizaki & Teru often play melodic duet solos as part of the show.

Behemoth/Slipknot, Royal Arena - a review!
Thursday evening was probably the best evening of my life! I went to the Royal Arena in Copenhagen to catch Slipknot on their We Are Not Your Kind World Tour.
I have seen Slipknot countless times before, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I had, however, never seen Behemoth live before, so I was really excited to see them. Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band, whose gimmick is being a dark, satanic band, who just want to destroy everything they touch. If you are a Christian person, a Behemoth (Hebrew ?????, behemoth (modern: behemot)) is a mythological beast mentioned in Job 40:15-24. Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity. In medieval demonology Behemoth ("several animals") is the nocturnal demon of indulgence and holds the ranks of caretaker of wine cellars, grand cupbearer of the royal household, and right watchman. He oversees the feasts of Jinnestan and is responsible for serving the Devil his food and wine. He also entertains with song and music.
For them to open up for Slipknot, was therefore the perfect fit!
Their opening consisted of a picture of Denmark, with an inverted cross across it, signalling that the Devil had arrived. The band took to the stage wearing full makeup and matching outfits, while fire and steam shot up around them. The band are a super talented bunch, and I really loved my 45 minutes in what can only be described as hell. Countless fireballs rose up towards the ceiling, and Nergals roaring vocals made the opening act something to remember.
After a "short" break of 45 minutes, Slipknot finally took to the stage, to the sound of Insert Coin, the opening track of We Are Not Your Kind. It jumped straight into Unsainted, which made the entire arena explode with euphoria. Slipknot was here, ready to make a statement. They wanted Copenhagen to know, that they mean business, and that they truly are one of the best live acts anywhere, of all time. I can agree with that, because judging by the way that Corey has the entire audience in the palm of his hands, Slipknot will indeed be remembered as the best live band ever.
The setlist was a mix of old and new, all of which was received extremely well. There were a few songs that I wasn't sure would go down well live, but they did.
My only gripe with this evening, was that it was on a Thursday evening, and I had work on the Friday. Next time Slipknot is in town, I hope it's on a Friday or a Saturday.
I will give Behemoth a 8 out of 10. Fantastic opening act, and a band I want to see again soon. Slipknot, well they get a perfect 10!
